Post Sportster Replay install in '02 Dodge Ram Quad Cab w/pics

First I would like to thank everyone for sharing all of their installs and ideas. It all was a very big help when I was doing my install.

Now to the install, I have a ’02 Dodge Ram Quad Cab with an OEM radio. Here’s my parts list and where I got them at:

Auxiliary Input Converter (PIE) CHRY02-AUX $69.99 from
ProFit Legend Series mount for ’02 Dodge $38.99 from

I ordered both of these items on 12-24 in the late afternoon and received my aux input converter on 12-27 in the afternoon. The ProFit mount was sent directly from the company and arrived on 12-28. I was really impressed with the quick turn around given the holidays and all.

12 volt accessory outlet $7.49 from my local Radio Shack

Industrial strength Velcro $3.75 from Home Depot

OK here’s the before picture. I got tired of my Sirius sitting in my cup holder and the wife got tired of it falling out if I stopped to quick or turned to sharp. So I decided it was time to do the install the right way.

The very first thing I did was disconnect the neg battery post. Here’s a picture of my dash before the install. The one nice thing about getting the ProFit mount is it comes with detailed instructions on how to take the dash bezel off and the radio out. And on top of that it has pictures too. If you’re like me pictures help more than instructions most of the time.

Here’s a picture with the bezel off and the radio out. I have never taken a dash apart or taken a radio out before and I was amazed how easy it was.

The next thing I did was install the aux input converter. I used the industrial strength Velcro to mount the converter in behind where the radio is at.

I then installed the accessory 12volt outlet. For this I used the wire tap included with it to tap into the 12 volt outlet just to the left of the climate controls. I used black electrical tape to make sure the tap wouldn’t open up. I used this outlet because I knew it only had power when the key was turned on, so my new outlet would turn on and off with the key also.

Then I installed the ProFit mount. The mount does stick out from the dash a little bit more than I liked, but my truck as plenty of room in the front seat so it will not really be an issue for me.

Next I fished the Sirius antenna wire up in the dash to the radio area. This probably was the one thing that gave me the most trouble. It wasn’t really that hard but I kept getting caught up on stuff and had to try a different path. I hooked up the converter cables and then put the radio in for a test fit and run to make sure it all worked before putting every thing back together.

After I knew it all worked I put everything back together. Here are a couple pictures of the final installation.
