Default starmate to stiletto

hi everyone,

just discovered these forums while looking for an answer to a little question. some great stuff on here....nice to see the canadian representation. My wife got me a new Stiletto 10 for christmas and I was hoping someone here might be able to help out. I currently have the starmate (st1 i believe....not a replay....old school i know) hardwired to the car. What i am wondering is whether i can use the same power for the stiletto or do i need to switch it to the included adapter. I see that the stiletto is 5v. Hoping i don't need to open up the dash.

cheers

Ian

The voltage gets dropped to 5 volts by circuitry inside the lighter plug so you have to have the plug.

The easiest way to keep your dash clear of the adapter plug is to install a cigarette lighter socket up under your dash and plug it in there.

ok - thanks! it currently is plugged in behind the dash. I was just hoping to avoid getting someone to open it up to replace the plug. not a big deal, but didn't want to pay someone if i didn't need to.
