What receiver to buy?
There are many receivers you can choose from, and each of them have their own pros and cons.
Firstly, if you are looking for the cheapest radio on the market just for your car, and just want a radio that does the basics, take a look at the Sirius One. It is a basic radio with limited features, but it will get the job done. The Sirius One and car kit retails for $49, but you can find it for $29 online.
For a small step up, the Xact Visor provides similar features compared to the Sirius One, but it also has additional features such as more presets, a larger display(although still one line), and a knob to quickly change the channel, and a slightly more refined look. The FM transmitter cannot be beat. The Xact Visor retails for $49, and has a similar online price.
For a feature-rich receiver that won't break the budget, the Starmate Replay is just for you. With a small form factor, the reliable Starmate Replay includes a five line display, direct entry on the radio, search by category, song seek and artist seek, jump button, 44 minute buffer, and much more. The Starmate Replay retails for $99, but it can be found for $89 or less online.
If you want a cheap radio that uses docking kits(plug and play), the Sportster Replay with a car kit is $129, and can be found for $119 or less online. The radio has many cool features, including a very large display, direct entry, 44 minute replay buffer, Song-Seek, and many more.
An upgraded version of the Sportster Replay is the recently released Sportster 4. The radio has similar features, but is much smaller, looks sleeker, has 30 song seeks instead of 20, artist seek, and the docking kit has an auxillary input for an iPod or MP3 player. The radio is $169.
If you're looking for a Satellite/MP3 player combo and are not really interested in LIVE PORTABLE reception, then the the top Sirius radio is the Sirius S50. It costs about $249, but there is a large $100 mail-in rebate for it. There are many features including a full color screen, recording shows, and more. Go to the S50 page for more information.
And finally, the top of the line Sirius Radio is the Sirius Stiletto 100. This allows for 2 Gigs of storage of MP3's and recorded material from Sirius. Plus, the Stiletto 100 has a Wi-fi feature that allows you to listen to most Sirius Channels wherever Wireless Internet is available. Also the Stiletto is fully portable and can be listened to outside with no dock provided you use either the special antenna headphones included or happen to live near a terrestrial repeater. If Wifi and MP3 storage are not important, you can chose the Stiletto 10 that is really just a live portable player without the extra features of the Stiletto 100. Please note that since the Stiletto family of radios are considered portable units first and foremost, they do NOT come with a car kit or a home kit. Both are seperate purchases.
