Wikitext is the 'language' used to format pages in the Knowledge Base easily. Here are the basic tools to use for good formatting.

Contents

Subsections

To make a subsection, on the main editing page, add ==Subsection text here== to the page. It will create a subsection similar to above. It will also automatically create a table of contents at the top of the page.

Subsections to subsections

If you feel that you need to divide the subsection even further, you can make a further subsection by adding ===an extra equals sign===. Everytime you want to add a further subsection, just add another equals sign on each side of the new header's text.

Linking

  • To link to another page in the Knowledge Base, just add a double set of brackets around the word that has another page. For example: Click on [[Starmate Replay]] to go to the Starmate Replay page.
  • To link to a category, use the same format as going to another page, but add 'Category:' in front, with no spaces between that and the category name. For example, we are in the toolbox category, so the box at the bottom is formatted as [[Category:Tool Box]]
  • If the page's name does not grammatically fit with the sentence, you can change what is displayed for the link. Add a '|'(Shift+\), a space, then the custom name after the page title. For example, if you want to link to 1_//_SIRIUS_Hits_1, but don't want the whole title, you can format it as [[1_//_SIRIUS_Hits_ Hits 1]], which will look like this: Hits 1
  • To link to an outside page, just do what you would above, but change the title of the page to the URL. For Example, [[http://www.yahoo.com| Yahoo!]] becomes [Yahoo!]

Bold, Italics

  • To bolden a word, use three single quotation marks on each side of the word like so: '''Woot!'''.
  • To italicize a word, use two single quotation marks like so: ''hey''. A single double quotation will not work.

Lists

  • To add the bullet points used on the page, just do an asterisk(*) at the beginning of a line.
    • To make an indented bullet point, use two(or more) asterisks in a row.
  1. If you want numbered lists instead of bullet points, use a pound sign(#)

New Paragraph

If you just hit enter, you will not start a new line. You must skip a line to start a new paragraph. If you are doing lists, then use the bullet points described above.

Deliberately Not Format

If you want to deliberately not format part of a page, use <nowiki></nowiki> to bracket the text you don't want formatted.
