We are establishing a SIRIUS Wiki to form a central, collaborative database of SIRIUS help documents and resources. With the involvement of the SIRIUS Backstage community, we hope to build the definitive SIRIUS Knowledge Base (KB) on the Internet.

To start, here’s a bit of background on Wikis…

Wikipedia is one of the leading Wiki sites. It combines the power of a Wiki with articles that you would find in an encyclopedia. It provides a useful definition:

A Wiki or wiki (pronounced "wicky" or "weekee") is a website or other hypertext document collection that allows a user to add content, as on an internet forum, but also allows that content to be edited by any other user.

Just as on the SIRIUS Backstage forums, the Admins and Moderators have established the structure and organization for the KB, and the members provide the content. Adding to the Wiki is very easy, as simple as typing an entry into your web browser. Wikis also leave a paper trail, allowing changes to be tracked and monitored. This self-editing structure allows synergies to emerge, and for members to work collectively to build the ultimate SIRIUS resource. The documents created (tutorials, reviews, links, faqs, etc) become better over time as everyone is involved in the revision process.

Remember, the Knowledge Base/wiki will not work without the support of our members! Everyone in a sense is a editor and also a developer/creator. To get started, look at the Wiki structure to see how we have set it up, and add your knowledge to one of the categories there, or start a new category. Pages are NEVER complete, and you can always feel free to add more to it if you can. If you have used Wikipedia before, editing and creating pages on here will be very similar, if not identical, because we are using the same software. Otherwise, the next step is to learn how to create a page and how to edit a page.
