Unhappy "very, Very Upset"

VERY, VERY UPSET - REASON........

I waited for a few days to really try to make sence of what Sirius is planning on doing with the "Doo-Wop Drive In". A few weeks ago, the first time that they cut the music it was just a little after 10:00, so of cause that evening I e-mailed a very special person at Sirius (no name is really needed) he has always come thru for me, but this time I did not receive an e-mail back. That was ok, I figured that it was just a mix-up at the station.

Well a couple of weeks went by and the "Drive In" was back on as usual, then last Sunday night just around 11:00, my heart sank because the show was stopped and the regular early 60's music came on. I once again e-mailed that special person at Sirius, the next morning I received two e-mail's one from him and one from someone else, who said that he would look into it.

One thing he said is that there was a chance that the "Drive In" may not be getting the volume to keep it going. I thought to myself this is a Sunday Night, and to be honest, who really has the radio on except dumb me who had faith in a radio station to come thru with the show I waited for all week.

If no one gets this but me, I have to tell you that I was very hurt to think that this was it for the "Drive-In".

The sound of the early 50's along with the drumming that came out of Africa, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Soul, all played a part in laying down the foundation that would be part of our American Music History. It's what the music being now played had something to draw from.

Sirius, I don't know if you will read this or not, but if you do you know by now all of the different "Threads and "Quotes" I have written over the past year with reference to different subjects on Sirius Gold Doo-Wop.
When you play my songs, you can't imagine what it means to this one customer.

Please don't take the "Drive In" away, you took the Hart & Soul away when you took a great . Please don't take the the memories.

A customer who still believes

You might consider suing them for punitive damages that they gave you over the radio.

Thank you for your "input", but for now it's just a waiting game on the

It's just that when they play the song's like to night on the "Drive In" you forget about the times of disapointment. I also will say again they do have some really cool people working at Sirius. We can't blame the ones who don't have the last word, and I on the other hand just woun't give up

Actually, I was just kidding about the punitive damages thing.

I feel your pain though. While I've just re-activated my Sirius account, I feel that they are much more sensitive to their customers than XM is. When I talk with Sirius I feel for the most part like I'm talking with someone who wants to help me find a resolution right away. When I call XM, I feel like I'm talking with a huge corporation that would chew me up and spit me out as soon as lower themselves to speak with me.

A situation like yours is somewhat complex and I think your suggestion was noted. It just takes time for potential programming changes to be checked out before they can be implemented.

Hang in there and I hope everything works out for you.

It's just nice to know that my "Thread" was notice. Thank You!

I have a question for you. A while back some one else mentioned that they also have XM and they wrote about a station I believe called "Harlam" on XM 50's and they said it played great songs are you familiar with it? If so can you give me some insite about the station.

Thank you!!

I'm sorry I"m not familiar with that one. I've alread disconnected the XM unit from my car. When I get a chance I'll check online though and see what I can find. If there is such a channel, maybe I get it from DirecTV. I'll let you know.

Red face "i'm Sorry I Misspelled"

I not sure if it will make a difference, but the spelling should be "Harlem", in lieu of "Harlam"

Thank You!

To answer a question about the Harlem show on XM here is a discription. It says on the XM 50s page.

Before there was Elvis, there was Ray Charles, Before there was the Coasters, there was Orioles and before there was rock & roll, there was Harlem. It's the soul of early 50s rhythm and blues with Matt The Cat. Go to XM 50s page for show times.

The show focusus on the underground music of the late 40s and early 50s that were not getting air play on mainstream radio back in the day. From doo wop groups to solo artists. These were records that got little or no air play at all because of their subjestive lyrics and were known at the time as race records. The only places to hear them on the radio were on low powered station near the end of the dial and were mainly black owned stations. Thanks to Mat The Cat, he brings you these great songs of the era along with some very good insight about the artists and their songs and he also does some good features as well thrown in from time to time. I've only had XM for 8 months so far and there are songs on that show I have never heard before, but throughly enjoyed. the show has kind of taken place of the drive in on sirius as you can here some songs from there on Harlem but with a more deeper playlist of sorts. If your a fan of early rythm and blues, you'll enjoy it.

I was all over the internet trying to find the Info about the Harlem Station but I had no success, thank you.

Someone one like myself who lived in New York City all her life you would think I would have some knowledge of this. I just got off the phone with a gentelman who works at the "Apollo" theater in Harlem and I was telling him about the station. He said you knew what you were talking about.

When I was first out of High School, a friend and myself went to the Apollo to see one of the best Black DJ's "Frankie Crocker", other wise known as the "Velvet-Voice" (I think we were at that time the only blond and red head's there). He was the first DJ to play white and black groups on the same radio station. Rock and Roll, Rythm and Blues, Jazz, it was the best!

I would love to hear the Harlem station playing all that great music on XM radio, but right now I'm here with Sirius.

Maybe you have been to the Apollo, if you haven't, I think you might enjoy it, I don't think you will be disapointed. So much history, and it's still beautiful.

As usual I always go on, and on, but thanks again for your

Smile Don't Want To Jinx A Good Thing

Been wanting to say for a while that the selection of songs on channel 5 have been really quite good.

One thing I would love to suggest (since we no longer have Bob T at the Doo-Wop Drive In), maybe we could just e-mail Sirius during the week and they could pick out the requests that are e-mailed into them for Sunday Night's show. Good idea right?

It's been a while, so maybe an e-mail is just what they need. I'm sure that their just waiting to be bothered.

Hope that Mr. "T" is doing great and is happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last sunday I listenend to about the last 70 mins of the show and I really liked what I heard. I am glad they finally started to bring it back to has good as it was when Bob T was there.
