Unhappy Party out of bounds ends Fri 8/22

As an FYI First Wave just announced that this Friday will be the last Party out of bounds show- did not mention if there is going to be a new weekly series taking it's place.

That's a shame. POOB was consistantly one place on First Wave where you could hear more obscure music that went beyond the normal playlist.

That sucks ass.

Listening to that show was my celebration that the weekend had begun.

I'm wondering if it was Sirius or Fred Schneider's decision.

Nonetheless, I hope they can find something of equal or better value to run Friday nights.

I don't know what kind of money the B52's have. Outside of "Love Shack" they were always one of those fringe almost-made-it-big artists that most likely signed some really crappy record deals where they had to sell a gazillion copies to see anything from it.
Just the same, I thought it strange that a big name like Fred Schneider would spend his friday or saturday night DJ-ing.
Then again, maybe he recorded at home earlier in the week and just played on the weekends.

The only thing I can gather is that Madison said that Fred was moving on- So take it for what that means.

Hopefully they will have another show at the same time- maybe they can't use the name "party out of bounds"- will see

Richard Blade just mentioned that Fred want's some time off- but all the other shows continue.

Also on a side note- FYI if you don't know Sirius now promotes this daily link for daily programming highlights all in 1 place- good idea

http://www.sirius.com/whatsonsirius

(Moderators may want to put the link on front page?)

I'm pretty sure Fred recorded the program, because one Friday night the B-52's played a concert at the shopping mall down the street from me and his show still aired on First Wave.

I think they did better than you, and probably most people, think. The album that contained "Love Shack" went multi-platinum (and also included the hit "Roam"), with most of thier albums going at least Gold. Add in a pretty big movie tie-in with The Flintstones (yeah, it sucked, but it was a huge hit, especially with the kiddies), and I'm guessing they've done pretty well.

Based on Fred's playlists, I'd gather that he does this because he loves music more than for what Sirius might pay him. Even though I didn't listen each and every Friday, he will certainly be missed.

I heard earlier that they have found a replacement for Fred, and it's a guy who was on MTV a long time ago. I thought I heard that it was a former host of Remote Control, but I highly doubt if Ken Ober's available (he's now the producer of The Adventures of Old Christine).

Talking

I am glad they are keeping the show going without Fred.

Maybe the moderators should change the title of the thread to:

"Party of out of bounds continues w/o Fred"

Did they announce on air today about the show continuing?- Of course the website has not been updated yet due to the weekend.

Yes they did; Darren Smith was talking about Fred's last show in one stopset, but in another, he mentioned that people have been jamming the lines and asking what would happen Friday nights.

However, I'm unsure if they'll keep the name "Party out of Bounds".

Thanks!
That's great news-
Subscribers calling and asking about what's happening is great feedback to Sirius to continue the special weekly shows

Not only that, he was the creator of 120 Minutes and hosted it from 1989-1992.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Kendall
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/120_Minutes

Even though he hasn't hosted POOB yet, he might be a great choice since he's so intelligent when it comes to alternative music. Not only that, it really shows how caring to MTV's past Sirius is, even more than MTV itself.
