Man, the Redskins dominated Pittsburgh. Take away the gimme INT/TD and the Steelers did nothing. Impressive performance by the Redskins O-line and defense.

I was somewhat disappointed in that bonehead interception Ramsey threw, but besides that the 'Skins look much improved. The defense looked awesome. I hope we keep Greg Williams as a D coordinator for a while and even make him the successor to Gibbs as head coach. Buffalo's success last year was the fruits of his labor.

You guys are right, Washington looked much improved and Big Ben still hasn't impressed me at all this pre-season. Still hoping that things will change come the start of the regular season. Seeing The Bus go off with a hurt calf muscle didn't help with the comfort level for the offense....

But we stray from the topic.....

"You know what they ought to be worried about? The graduation rates of most college athletes," the second-term Florida governor said. "Maybe if they had some suggestions on that, that universities could apply and could implement, they could be doing a service to all of us."

Florida State also had the blessing of the Seminole Tribe of Oklahoma to use the name Seminoles.

The name "Seminole" is a lot different than the name "Redskin". Its akin to comparing "Angolan" with "blackie".

Yea, I think there is definately a difference between the Indians/Redskins set and something more specific like Seminoles. It is just a major difference.

I hope the IOWA teams dont have to change their names, after all IOWA is an Indian name. And how about the INDIANA teams? Indiana is named after Indians. This is the stupidist ruling ive ever heard from the NCAA.

Naming a team after an Indian tribe is actually being respectful of that tribe. I mean think about it...you wouldnt name a team after a weak animal like a butterfly. You want your name to represent power and prestige. So therefore naming your team after an Indian tribe is being honorable to that Indian tribe.

Wasn't there a big blow-up about this at the Frozen Four the year North Dakota participated? They're called the Fighting Sioux. Local Tribes evidently protested the event and demanded they change their name.

BTW, I believe the word ESKIMO is also a slur. Native Americans from the region do not like to be referred to as Eskimos. I was warned when I was at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage.
