Representatives and supporters for Clinton, Obama, Edwards campaigns vie for the Gay community’s vote on SIRIUS OutQ

SIRIUS Satellite Radio announced today it will hold its first ever Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender presidential caucus on January 31, 2008 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm ET on The Michelangelo Signorile Show on SIRIUS OutQ, the nation’s only 24/7 LGBT radio channel. Representatives and supporters for Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards will share their candidates’ platforms and views, take questions from callers, and engage in an open dialogue with SIRIUS’ national audience.

Signorile’s show - spanning politics, media, and popular culture and how it affects the LGBT community – is further representation of SIRIUS’ broad, diversified commitment to covering the 2008 presidential campaign. The Michelangelo Signorile Show airs Monday – Friday from 2:00 – 6:00 pm ET on SIRIUS OutQ channel 109. The show features newsmakers, community leaders, and highlights the many voices of the LGBT community. In addition to The Michelangelo Signorile Show, SIRIUS offers multiple dedicated political talk and news channels.

For the LGBT Caucus, Hilary Rosen will support Senator Clinton. She is the President of OurChart.com, an active public speaker, and a regular on-air political and business commentator on national television. She is the former Chairman and chief executive officer of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Stampp Corbin will represent Senator Obama. Corbin is the National LGBT Liaison for the Obama campaign, and Co-Chair of the National LGBT Leadership Team, Obama for America ‘08. He served on The Board of Directors of the Human Rights Campaign from 1996-2003, and served as HRC Finance Committee Co-Chair from 1998 to 2003. He is also a successful high-tech entrepreneur. Eric Stern will represent Senator Edwards. He is a Political Advisor to the John Edwards for President Campaign. Stern is an attorney, educator, and social activist who worked for more than a decade on numerous Democratic campaigns and in the movement for social justice and equality. In the 2004 election cycle, Stern served as the Director of LGBT Outreach at the Democratic National Committee where he developed a voter mobilization plan that helped to turnout more than 3.5 million LGBT votes for Democratic candidates nationally.

Country Music Hall of Fame inductee and Grand Ole Opry host Little Jimmy Dickens will guest DJ on SIRIUS Satellite Radio’s The Roadhouse music channel. Jimmy will spend an hour playing his favorite songs and sharing funny stories behind his own music including his sixty years performing at the Grand Ole Opry. Little Jimmy Dickens Guest DJs In The Roadhouse airs Friday, February 8 at 3 pm ET with encores on Saturday February 9 at 12 pm ET and February 10 at 5 pm ET, on The Roadhouse SIRIUS channel 62.

On Sunday, January 27th, SIRIUS’ Lighten Up with Richard Simmons will be dedicated to diabetes awareness. Simmons, one of America’s most loved fitness experts, will discuss the importance of diabetes awareness as well as its related health issues. Richard will be joined by experts from The American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, and a friend and resident doctor of Richard Simmons, Dr. Frederic Jackson. All will be available to answer questions and concerns regarding diabetes.

American Idol judge Randy Jackson, who was diagnosed with diabetes in 2001, will be a special guest on Lighten Up with Richard Simmons on Sunday, January 27th. According to a recent article in The Washington Post, Jackson joined with the American Heart Association and Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America in a program called The Heart of Diabetes. The program is “designed to encourage people to pay attention to possible diabetes symptoms so that if they do have the disease, they can begin treating and managing it early, significantly reducing their risk for cardiovascular disease.”

According to American Medical News, diabetes affects 7% of the United States population. The American Medical News reports that more than 14 million people have been diagnosed with diabetes, and another 6 million are undiagnosed, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

SIRIUS to broadcast LIVE from “Liverpool 8” record release party featuring a performance from the music icon.

Legendary rocker Ringo Starr sits down for an intimate interview with SIRIUS Satellite Radio host Meg Griffin to discuss the making of his latest album Liverpool 8. During the interview, Starr also discusses his early musical influences and favorite drummers.

Immediately following the interview, SIRIUS will broadcast live from the Liverpool 8 album release party at LA’s House of Blues. The event will included a performance by Ringo Starr and Dave Stewart, the albums co-producer and half of the British music duo, Eurythmics.

Multi-platinum and Grammy® winning artist Sheryl Crow will take over SIRIUS Satellite Radio’s The Spectrum channel. The exclusive five-day special will feature Sheryl playing her favorite music including a track-by-track preview and in-depth discussion of her new album Detours (A&M/Interscope) in stores February 5th.

Among the many tracks on the album, Sheryl discusses how “Lullaby for Wyatt,” a song about her son, “…really informed this album. There’s an urgent feeling about what’s going on in the world. Elvis Radio, SIRIUS’ channel dedicated to the music and legacy of Elvis Presley, will celebrate the 73rd anniversary of Elvis’ birthday with exclusive live broadcasts from SIRIUS’ studios located at Graceland. The channel will feature live coverage from the steps of Graceland for the traditional birthday ceremony. This year’s celebration will include Priscilla Presley sharing her personal thoughts and memories of Graceland and Elvis.
