Bay Area DJ responds to merger annoncement

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

There has been lots of chatter all across the internets since Monday’s DoJ approval announcement.  One of the more interesting takes came from Bay Area DJ, “Big” Rick Stuart.  Mr. Stuart writes as a radio professional, a former employee of Mel’s at CBS Radio, and as a Sirius subscriber.  I thought his insights were interesting (as well as pretty much in line with mine).Big Rick Stuart

As he writes here,

1) big names stay and to listen to some of them you’ll pay more than “basic”
2) little weird stations might not stay or if they do will with staffing cuts
3) I don’t think there will be any programming duplication and Mel can be a loyal guy so if there is a choice XM staff gets cut
3) new hardware is coming soon, very very soon
4) the NAB will fight it all the way (and lose)
5) the very under the radar Sirius Backseat TV service will expand quickly

Now, I think he’s underplaying the pricing changes that will be favorable to many consumers, like the “Mostly Music” choice, but I encourage you to check out his post.

Who is Marty Snider?

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

I’ve heard numerous complaints on air, or bulletin boards. I’ve also seen people praise his efforts. On occasion, I’ve heard his radio co-host, David Poole drop the hint that he’s a very busy man and I’ve implied from other subtle statements that he’s got his fingers in more than we know about up front. I wanted to know more about Marty, this guy I listen to on the radio every morning on SIRIUS Satellite Radio, or pit reporting on TV and so I dug around on the internet and came up with some info and wanted to share this with you.First off, YES, there’s much more to Marty Snider than meets the eye!!

Marty Snider has covered NASCAR over the years for several media outlets including Motor Racing Network(MRN), CNNSi, ESPN, NASCAR.com and TNT / NBCSports.com as a NASCAR Insider. And as you all know, he is also a co-host with David Poole of “The Morning Drive” which airs every weekday from 7:00-11:00 AM ET on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio, channel 128.

On top of all this, he has other underlying aspirations, or maybe, I should say endeavors moving full steam ahead, but that’s for a little later. (more…)
