The Ring magazine and former Chairman of the New York State Athletic
Commission, airs Tuesdays from 1:00 - 3:00 pm ET. Gordon covers
boxing and Mixed Martial Arts on a show that provides an in-depth look
at the sweet science and one of the world’s fastest-rising sports.
– The SIRIUS College Football Coaches Show, hosted by Jack Arute and
former Auburn Tigers head coach Terry Bowden, airs every Wednesday
from 1:00 - 3:00 pm ET. Arute and Bowden interview coaches and

book “Fair Play: Making Organized Sports a Great Experience for Your
Kids,” hosts the call-in show SIRIUS Presents the ABCs of Sports.

discusses ideas for making youth sports more enjoyable for both kids
and adults.
– On Fridays from 1:00 - 3:00 pm ET, The Fantoo Girls, Carol Doroba and
Robin McConaughey, provide a refreshingly unscientific perspective on

SIRIUS CEO Karmazin: Parents will not have to pay for Howard Stern
Tuesday, March 20th, 2007Mel Karmazin, CEO of SIRIUS Satellite Radio, announced today that parents who are offended by programming such as Howard Stern will recieve a decrease in programming costs after the XM-SIRIUS merger.
“There would be a cost reduction to their bill in a more a la carte way,” said Karmazin. “If somebody doesn’t want it, not only are they not getting it, but they’re not subsidizing it either.”
This announcement comes after FCC Chairman Kevin Martin has publicly expressed interest in having of an a la carte programming system. Previously, Karmazin has said that Satellite technology will not allow for such programming choices but it seems that instead of customers paying more for the Howard Stern service(a la carte style), customers will have the choice to remove Stern from their radios and recieve a price cut in the monthly price of the service. Karmazin also noted that these details were included with the FCC merger notice filed on Tuesday.
This decision by the merger corporations could not only influence the FCC to approve the merger, but could influence other services such as cable television to do the same type of program discounting.
Dan Isett, a spokesperson for the Parents Television Council, who also supports such a la carte programming said, “This is good news, but we want to see the details. The problem they face is why should consumers be forced to subsidize Howard Stern if they want Major League Baseball?”
How do you think this will affect the FCC decision to approve or dissaprove the XM-SIRIUS merger?

Howard Stern wants to be called “the Howard”
Tuesday, February 13th, 2007
Howard Stern has told his audience not to refer to him by his full name any longer. According to one report, he has become angered by the media, and even some of the public, confusing him with Howard K. Stern, lawyer and partner of recently deceased Anna Nicole Smith. One case of mistaken identity in an Australian newspaper states that Smith’s partner, Howard K. Stern, is the shock jock and father of Smith’s youngest child. The shock jock formerly known as the King of All Media now wishes to be known simply as “the Howard”.
Jamie Foxx to Program ‘Urban Lifestyle’ Channel on Sirius; What Happens to OutQ?
Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007
Oscar winning and Grammy nominated actor and musician Jamie Foxx will executive produce a new channel, called ‘The Foxxhole’, that will focus on Urban music, talk, and comedy. The channel, to be on 106, will include daily short segments from Foxx, as well as a weekly talkshow. There will also be urban comedy bits, sketch shows, as well as music and radio theater. Also serving as executive producer is Marcus King, who has produced many shows and specials, including The Jamie Foxx Show. The Foxxhole will launch this spring, hopefully with more changes in store for us.
The big question this draws is, what will happen to OutQ? Hopefully, it will just be moving to a different place on the map, such as channel 109, which would sandwich it between Maxim and CourtTV. As Sirius’ first 24/7 in-house talk channel, it would be sad if it leaves the airwaves.
