I think they are close to a deal for 2009. I'm thinking Sirius will be waiting on a decision on Howard's future before deciding to back a truck of money up for Bubba.

I think Bubba may be looking for a new time slot, which would mean a different channel. Two 4 hour shows with a 5 hour break in between in a killer.

Only way I see this happening is if they do the simulcast thing like O&A are doing. There's no way they can keep doing 8 hours of radio each day for the long term and Bubba's not going to walk away from the money that terrestrial is offering (unless Sirius REALLY steps up the pay).

I used to think this would be an awful scenario, but unlike 0&0, they actually put on a good FM show, actually have more freedom there than on SatRad (go figure) but aren't allowed to discuss the morning show on Sirius which makes us miss important happenings at the BRN.

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all. I think the better solution is to give them a Bubba199 gig in the downtime between the 2 shows... Mo' money, mo' money...

i think changing the channel bubber is on would be an awful idea. i, like many others, had no idea who bubber was beforwe howard told me about him. now i listen during every stern break and try to catch a show or two even when stern's on with new shows. now if you change bubber's channel we all would know to go and listen but i think ti would take a lot longer for new subs to find him. i would guess that most people buy sirius for stern and thus whatever is on his channels will get the most listeners. change his channel and new subs, may not either give him a chance or know hes on at all. also, ive known bubber as part of stern's family, samne with ferrall, miserable men, and greg fitz. i like the little group of talented radiop guys tim and howard have put together, it would suck to break them up.

i just hope that soon enought sirius gives bubba all the money he needs to be exclusive to sirius. he has now proven through his reg. radion deal that he is the best (besides howard) "shock jock" there is, sirius brass must have taken note of this and should pay him as a reault.

the best thing that could happen, IMO, is that once they merge mel lets 0.0 go at the end of their contract and gives bubba all their money plus some.

just my pipedreams...it will, and is, fun to see this all unfold in front of us.

From the article linked below.

Q: Recently, there was talk of you leaving Sirius after your contract?

A: They gave me a less than favorable and less than fair deal, but out of loyalty to Howard, I came back. Now, to Sirius' credit, things are going wonderful. We're actually talking about '09 and beyond. I think they are finally getting it.

Q: It must be tough doing two separate shows a day?

A: It's absolutely brutal the worst thing I ever did in my life. It's all mental. But I can't keep it up. We have to tweak this thing eventually. If we're at Sirius in '09, we have to make some alterations to the daily schedule. The terrestrial show will have to be censored, but I am not going to do a satellite radio show that can also be heard on terrestrial. Basically, the idea is to move to middays. We can do seven hours of radio and get the hell out of there.

Cool

that would make sense. make the ball sack radio show from like 12-3pm and them keeps the sirius show from 3-7pm. that way they could bang it all out at once and not havwe to change the sirius schedule at all.

I could probably see this working. If they can eliminate the getting up at 4 AM, that would alleviate things big time.

You don't get big $$$ from testicular radio doing middays. He's clearly looking to do midday on Sirius.

so whats bubba gonna do regarding terrestrial radio? will sirius buy them out, or what? if sirius was smart, they would have signed him to a multi year deal last year and instead of letting them get the terrestrial deal. now they're gonna have to pay even more to get bubba exclusive to sirius.

Lets be honest. Terrestrial is where Bubba wants to be ultimately. Its the most money and the biggest exposure (I would guess his small syndication on his FM deal still reaches more listeners than all of howard101 does).

I would think the new schedule will be FM mornings, then 10am-2pm on Sirius, M-F come 2009.

I just hope they have a 3-7pm replay still, as I can't listen during middays. I love having bubba for my commute home.

I don't how he could do middays with 101 having the west coast feed of Howard's show at that time & i don't see a third channel starting up.

jesus, a daily 7 hour show is brutal. but them doing it in the middays would make it easier for them to get up in the mornings. boy bubba and company are gonna make off like fat rats if they keep their terrestrial deal and up the sirius money as well.
