Default College football - Week 2

The second week of the season gets underway tomorrow night with South Carolina @ Vanderbilt on ESPN. Should be a pretty good game from Nashville.

Some games this weekend that I'm looking forward to:

-West Virginia @ East Carolina (Pirates have a really good shot at upsetting WVA)

-Cincinnati @ Oklahoma

-Southern Miss @ Auburn (personally interested in this one b/c former TX Tech QB Chris Todd is starting for Auburn)

-TX Tech @ Nevada (little nervous about going on the road after last week's shaky performance)

LA Tech @ Kansas (LA Tech beat Miss. St. last week...don't think they can hang with KU, though).

USC jumped over Georgia and Ohio St to become the new number one in this weeks poles. They don't play this weekend, so it's possible if Ohio St moves up one spot, we could have a one vs. two in week three...

Instead of playing cupcakes like Ohio St, USC is playing 1-A teams like Virginia and beating them handily...

With the addition of a 12th game a few years ago, you'd think that The Big Ten would have made it mandatory for all teams in the conference to play each other, but I guess they don't think that important...

"Those were some good times. Back when I was considered one of the best coaches in college football. Now, I can't even beat Vanderbilt"

Ohio State losing to Ohio 7-6 at halftime. The Buckeyes will probably end up winning by at least 2 TD's today, but I think they will be in over their heads next week in LA, even if Beanie plays. I just don't see them going into USC and winning...I think the Trojans win by double digits.

How do you not score at least a touchdown against Ohio in the first half...

I guess you can take the Husker out of Nebraska, but you can't take the Nebraska out of the Husker...

Go get'um Frank...

edit, they're losing 14-6...

“Forget Utah. Forget BYU and Fresno State. WE will be the ones crashing the BCS party this season. We are Pirates, after all. You can look for me at Clemson next year. Or maybe Penn State.”

"Don't you just hate it when the referees decide the outcome of a game? I can't catch a break up here in Seattle. Maybe Notre Dame was justified in firing me after all."

"Graham, you can't keep playing like this. 19 for 46 with two interceptions isn't going to cut it once conference play starts. For once, our defense won us the ballgame"

"Don't be surprised if I turn this team into a top contender in the ACC in the next few years. Hell, should be easy, right? Sure isn't much competition! Don't tell me the triple option offense is outdated!"

"We're number 1!!! You'll see!!! USC is going down next week!!! (In all honesty, though, I'm pretty nervous. USC has the better team, and they're at home. But shhhhh...don't tell anyone!)."

Early line for the OSU/USC game...the Buckeyes are getting 10.5 points. Wow, I figured it'd be high, but 10.5 is a huge number. Something tells me the Trojans will cover though.
