Default College football - Week 5

Think Georgia might be a little nervous going into this weekend?

They should be. Well, maybe not nervous...but definitely on the edge of their seats. The Tide rolls in to Athens this weekend, and Nick Saban has them poised for an upset. I think Georgia will take care of business, though. It would be in their best interest to do so if they want to stay on course for a national championship.

Other than the Alabama/Georgia game, there isn't really much else in the way of marquee match-ups. TCU (#24) visits Oklahoma, but the Sooners should win easily. I guess Illinois @ Penn State could be considered a big one in the Big 10. And you've got Wisconsin dropping 7 points to Michigan in Ann Arbor. I can't remember the last time the Wolverines were a touchdown dog at HOME. North Carolina @ Miami is probably under the radar for a lot of people, but that could be a really good game. I'm pretty excited about the VA Tech @ Nebraska game, too. It should give us a fairly good indicator of how well Bo Pelini really is doing in Lincoln.

USC gets it started tomorrow night in Corvallis. They're giving 25 points to the Beavers...I'll take USC.

Well if you took the points in this game, you're looking good. The Beaver defense has showed up to play. I still think USC will come back to win in the 2nd half, but no way they cover the spread....unfortunately!

EDIT: Wow, OSU just scored a TD at the end of the half to go in leading 21-0! I'd love to be a fly on the wall in that Trojan locker room right now. You know Pete Carroll is ripping into those kids. USC is in some trouble...

Probably the best that USC can hope for after last night. They might even be headed for a rematch against Ohio State. Although, after last year, you just never know what can happen with the BCS. But in all likelihood, USC's national title aspirations were snuffed out last night by the Beavers. Pete Carroll is one of the best coaches in the nation, but Mike Riley dominated him last night with the X's and O's. Going into the season, if you told me that OSU was going to beat USC, I wouldn't have thought you were talking about Oregon State! I love college football...as soon as you think you have it all figured out, something like this ALWAYS happens.

Stranger things have happened, but if USC avoids another lose & Florida, Oklahoma, & a few others lose later in the season, they still might have a chance at the BCS Championship...

Tell me about it! My Tigers lost twice last year and still won the BCS.

Awful week for me...both of my preseason national championship game picks went down to unranked teams (USC and FLA). The top 5 is really gonna look different next week, especially if Georgia can't get by Alabama tonight. Oklahoma better not overlook TCU either.

Exclamation

It's not looking good for the Bulldogs...

They're going to need a Texas vs OSU comeback if they expect to win...

Crazy week in college football. The way things are setting up, we'll have another 2-loss national champ at the end of the year. But how good is 'Bama? To me, they've been the most impressive team so far this season. I'm glad Texas Tech didn't play this weekend with all the upsets going down. The top 5 is going to look drastically different when it comes out later today. Here's how I would personally rank them:

I really doubt Alabama will jump to number 1 in the polls, but they should. Can't wait until next week.
