Default Terrible Sound Quality

The sound quality on Sirius has been good for what you will get with satellite radio. I have XM as well as Sirius and I think XM's sound is harder to digest. More artifacts and inconsistent volume level on each channel.

The one thing I liked about Sirius is the consistency of sound across the music channels. Volume and quality. Until this past week. As you may have seen in my other thread The Sound on the Vault was so bad it affected the "S" sound and cymbals on the high end with so much distortion it was not bearable to listen. However, I also noticed that some of the other music channels sound very crappy lately, allot as it did in December 2003. The constancy is to there anymore.

I am fearful that when they put this video in place that the sound will get worse.

I know I am going to get a bunch of replies like.

Mine Sounds Great

Mine Sounds like CD!

I am looking for some objective feedback on the sound. I love Sirius and the programming. I just wish the sound were little more consistent. I understand it will never sound like a CD.

My setup sounds near CD quality. Direct connect is always best.

Video is not a near term concern. It won't be launched until the engineers are comfortable enough with the compression technologies so that the audio will be unaffected. It is entirely contingent on advances in compression.

Since you have started another Sound Quality Thread recently, can you stick with just one?

I agree, there's nothing wrong with that discussion. Helps prevent disparate conversations.

My thread today is talking about the entire sound quality. The prior thread was just about the 2 channels. I do not believe it is in the same thread.

So, the point is to open up the previous thread to include all the channels instead of just the two.
