Default Ron and Fez to XM

Wish they were headed to Sirius but another loss.

TALK RADIO PERSONALITIES RON AND FEZ TO JOIN XM SATELLITE RADIO

Washington D.C., August 01, 2005 -- XM Satellite Radio, the nation's leading satellite radio service with more than 4.4 million subscribers, today announced that Washington D.C. talk radio personalities Ron and Fez will bring their popular daily radio show and irreverent humor to XM Satellite Radio.

Beginning September 12, Ron and Fez will broadcast weekdays from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. ET exclusively on High Voltage (XM Channel 202), with encores airing from 7-10 p.m. ET and 2-5 a.m. ET. Prior to the start of their new XM show, Ron and Fez will join long-time friends and XM talk personalities Opie and Anthony on their show Tuesday, August 9 from 7-11 a.m. ET.

"It should come as no surprise that Ron and Fez are making the jump to XM where they will have the opportunity to create the kind of radio that has made them popular with their long-time fans and expand their fan base to millions of XM listeners," said Executive Vice President of Programming for XM Eric Logan. "Ron and Fez are two of the funniest guys on the radio and XM's High Voltage is a perfect place for them to do what they do best."

The duo, Ron Bennington and Fez Whatley, have built a dedicated following since their start in Florida during the mid-1990's, including successful runs in New York and Washington D.C. markets.

They only reason they went with XM, was B/C it was in their back door, they were on WJFK-FM in DC, right down the road from the XM HQs.. I'm sure if someone like Bruice was in DC, XM would have picked him up..

But yes Ron and Fez are a good team, and a good show, I'm sure the unedited show will rock...

Not true at all. They are friends with Opie and Anthony and will be brodcast on their station High Voltage.

I was here campaigning for better real talk radio on Sirius. However, Sirius has never been able to step up to the plate. Maxim is an abomination of a station.

I can't believe Mel and Jeremy ran this type of format for years at Infinity and have not been able to do the same on their own Sirius.

It's truly a shame.

Ron and Fez will be brodcasting in NYC at the same studio as Opie and Anthony.

this is a great day for old ron and fez fans who arent in the DC metro area. This is also another nail in the coffin of terrestrial radio. All the good talent is slowly but surely making its way to satellite.

I don't know were you got that they are going to be full time in NYC, because, all the Wash TV and media is reporting the are going to broadcast from XM DC HQ's.. The will be on the same station as O&A... yes.. but Is there a report that said they will be broadcasting from NYC? Becasue there last show on WJFK in DC they said, that they will still do their on location stuff in the DC area..

I believe opie said this morning that ron and fez will broadcast from NYC using the same studio as them.

Now the real question is who will win the next golden ticket???

Ron and Fez were successful in Fla/NY/DC. (The only places they've been).

If you haven't heard their show, it's worth a listen. They do not do a show like O&A's. It's not a "shock" show, it's just plain funny.

I can't wait to have both R&F and O&A in New York again! And on the same radio!

This whole trend of signing morning show "talent" has gotten out of hand. Other than Howard Stern, these guys they're signing are neither well-known nor funny. And Stern isn't funny. Grow up.

Satellite radio should be about what you can't hear on FM.

It is all about what you can't hear on FM. You can't hear O&A on FM and you soon won't be able to hear what you will be able to hear from Stern on FM.

Umm, Ron and Fez has been in hte 7p.m.-11 p.m. slot for 3-4 years. They're not a morning show.

And with the departure of nearly all the good non-political/sports talk from FM, you can't get this stuff on FM.

No one said R&F are some national powerhouse. They're just plain funny and good talent.

I know nothing of them, or O&A either. However, XM seems committed to having more "shock jock" talent throughout the day. I think it's a good idea. Howard will have his 4-hour show 4 days a week (should be 5) -- I wonder what the plan is for the rest of the time? Playing old shows? New programming? Interesting times coming.
