The original SkyFi is still for sale, so I'm not sure but I think Delphi will keep the Roady2 around just like they have the SkyFi. This may not be a clearance price, but a new lower price point for another year to come:

There are no buttons on
the XT with the word Category listed.
How are people supposed
to change categories on it?

I'd assume the search button.

Yes it's the "search" button.

Like the SkyFi 2 you get either choose the option of searching by category or searching by auto-scanning.

What would the user do, press
the Search button and then use
the up/down buttons
to navigate category names?
And if so, does it then give
a list of what's playing on
each of the channels in
that category? OK, the second
part of my question was obviously
not applicable to the Roadies. I'm
curious about all the
multi-line PnPs in
general that don't have
direct category buttons.

Hmm, I don't have a Roady XT so I'm not sure exactly how you navigate categories through the search button but I'm almost sure the XT (like the SkyFi 2) will use the SEARCH button and give you two options: One for category browsing and second for auto-scanning.

As for the new PnP receivers (like the SkyFi 2) once you press the search button it will automatically search the dial for about 5 seconds each channel and then it will go on to the next channel.. 5 seconds later.. to the next channel - basically auto-scanning the dial. That's if you use the Scanning Mode. If you use the Category Mode (instead the using the left & right) you just press the Search button and navigate through the categories.

that or possibly just keep pushing the search button. As for the new roady displaying whats playing on that channel im not really sure but if I had to guess I would say no being that the unit is still based on 3G chipset (I believe). As to your last question the xm receivers have a catagory type button it just doesnt say catagory.

Example:
My tao uses the right and left arrow buttons to first scroll through your presets then thru the catagories.

Hope I could be of some help.

OK, my understanding now is that on receivers like
the Skyfi2 (a PnP without any category buttons),
the user presses the Search button
and (depending on how they have it set to display)
it then shows a list of channels in the current
category that the user can then navigate with the
up/down buttons. From here, the user can also
jump to the next category and its own list of
channels by pressing the Search button
again. However, there is no way to cycle the
categories in reverse, and there's no way to set it
up so that the user sees a list of what's playing
(either artist or song) on each channel while
browsing the categories (all they will ever see is
a list of channels). The Tao (and perhaps the
Myfi and Airware too?) do have buttons that can
be used to cycle back and forth through the
category browse mode. Is that all correct?

If you're wondering why all these specific
questions: I'd like to get XM service, but many of
the PnPs have been difficult for me to decide if I'd
really like them. The easiest one seems to be the
XR9/JXR9, but I have been worryied about
stories I've heard regarding the remote not
registering well with the receiver.

Not exactly. Once you enter search mode, you can use the Display button to choose what data will be displayed, channel, artist or title. Whatever mode you leave it in becomes the default display setting the next time you enter search mode. If you don't want to jump through categories or presets, you can use the up and down scroll keys to scan through the channels.

Soxnationonline,
Now that you know how to get your Skyfi2 to display what's playing on each of the channels while in category mode , can you do that on your XM-2go, and cycle through the categories by pressing the right/left arrow buttons? I am still a little unclear on that.

one of those for my first XM receiver.
Thanks for the help!

I have a feeling my Myfi now is going to die at any point. Little thing is always on

Now that I take a new look at XM's new radios after seeing Sirius's new offerings, they are pretty plain at best and ugly at worst. The AudioVox just looks ugly to me. Maybe they look better in person.
