Putting the old Roady2 type display aside, which is minimal at best, the unit is quite sleek looking for a PNP unit. It's not overdone with buttons, which gives it a minimalistic look. If it is thin on top of it, that is a plus for a PNP. I saw the Belkin boombox for it on the other site -- that actually looks very nice. If this is a low-cost PNP unit, it will sell well -- mostly to those new to sat radio. Remember, neither XM nor Sirius design these things to cater to US, the obsessed multi-radio subscribers -- they are catering to John Q. Public. This is a nice entry-level PNP -- not too many bells and whistles. If XM is your preferred provider, this is a cheap way to listen in the car, home and boombox.

The display is just acceptable -- it's a trade-off, I guess. I think few displays will look as nice as the S50, but that display may be a bit small for a quick glance in the car.

Just my opinion . . .

I'm almost 100% sure this one will be cheaper, by how much is anyone's guess.

EDIT: Just noticed this doesn't have live satellite either, now I know I would much rather have the S50 (yes, I know it doesn't have live satellite on the go).

I must say, the Nexus looks better to me than the S50. Multi-directional navigation, as well as having the home-kit included give the Nexus the edge.

However, I won't be choosing either since I can acheive the most important features already - encoding mp3 files and playback with FF/RW and resume - with my iAudio G3 personal audio device.

Why couldn't the S50 and Nexus offer recording of one channel while the user listens to another? That would be truly cool and useful.

The S50 is believed to do that.

Thanks for the "stink" comment sox, that made my day.

Where is the colored display? Between the Nexus and the S50, I'll take the S50 hands down even if I have to pay more for it. XM and its partners have this terrible habit of giving their products really crappy display. You can't really tell from this picture but it's more than likely another one of those great Skyfi/Myfi type display. The Sirius unit would be worth more just for the better color display in my opinion and the S50 looks much sleeker.

SISO you stink! LOL Poor Sox always promoting XM and you just shut him down. Did you see him posting anything about Sirius new equipment over on the XM forums? NO, I didn't think so. He just like promoting XM not SIRIUS.

I don't think it does -- the release is not clear. Can't wait to see the hands on reviews of both products.

I see both as a win/win situation -- sat radio is making its way into everything -- MP3s, cars, boomboxes, stereo receivers, etc. We will be looked at as the pioneers! These products -- whether you like them or not -- is good for sat radio as a whole.

I think SISO heard some of the same things that I did about the S50 supporting the recording on one channel while listening to another, but of course no confirmation as you said based on the info released.

I also agree that both these products will be GREAT! It just boils down to preferences, but I do like that colored display on the S50 over another Skyfi type display if that is indeed what the Nexus comes with.

No release date, what gives , this unit presents more questions than answers.

Remura's release was premature; a definate counter to the S50. XM wants to steal some of SIRI's thunder and plant some seeds of hope with their core customers.

I like the S50's form factor and design execution better, (an added plus is the color screen): S60 has buttons on the side, vice Remura's knock off implemenation of Ipod's funtionality. :\ The play/pause is dead smack in the middle of its face (not good for running/jogging); XM's patented "etch-A-sketch" veiwing scene; looks sort of bland. After seeing what Samsung is capable of and viewing this it makes you wonder. The Remura will definately be dirt cheap, look at it, very basic approach. This is not a big deal, hopefully their Oct 15 release will be better.

upon further review I discovered it wasnt you who stinks but it actually was the 2 week old burrito left under my bed that was the culprit.

I know you didnt shut down that thread because "Poor Sox always promoting XM and you just shut him down". you felt the discussion was best suited here so thats where it will be....

that being said. I see both the nexus and s50 units geared more towards sat rad fans who already subscribe to the service of their choice. Will people who dont have sat rad purchase this as a first receiver, of course but the majority will purchase the likes of the starmate or the roady2.

as for which one I like better? they each have their pluses and minuses but I wont pass judgement on either until I can hold them in my hand and check them out myself....

just one quick question too... how can the s50 (let alone any recording device) record one channel while listening to another? wouldnt that require multiple tuners(like 2 tuner picture in picture).....

I am sure they can do a piggyback chipset in order to allow you to pull data from 2 different channels, but I don't really have the technical insights into the new chipsets or what is possible. It would certainly be a reason to pay more for the S50 if that is the case. I have my doubts about it, but we'll see.

yeah I was thinking possibly something similar to that as well but my lack of in depth knowledge on the subject left me questioning it still as well. I do know and agree that if it does in fact do that it will definatly put the s50 well ahead of the nexus and justify a higher price (if it is infact going to be higher.)
