What I mean is maybe Sirius can be the exclusive for Sirius only like they have NFL and XM has MLB, NHL.

You just made me think of something. For 2007 and beyond, what would happen to NHL stuff on ESPN where Sirius is concerned??

Would it end up being blacked out on Sirius or might we hear the odd game or possibly some of playoffs via ESPN Radio??

That would be something, if not a very small consolation.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I don't know if ESPN Radio will broadcast the games since OLN/Comcast took over the "major" TV rights.

I'd think that ESPN Radio would broadcast the NHL game of the week or something like that when it had the TV rights, but since they don't have them anymore... who knows?

I don't think I have ever heard an NHL game on ESPN radio in the past, I don't even know if they have radio rights?

I would assume the same thing would happen that happens to mlb games on espn radio.... they get blocked out. this would include regular season and playoffs.... after 06-07 season no NHL on sirius.... just like after 06 no nascar on xm....

I feel your pain. I moved from Philly to VA last year and I was amped that I was going to hear Flyers games on sirius but now I too will be logged onto 'IP site next year. Just because this is happening doesn't mean I am going to switch to XM..Long Live Sirius

The NHL loses money every year. Yea, it sucks for the 100 or so people who care, but this is no big loss subscriber-wise.

For the US market sure, it's not a huge deal. But it's a huge loss in the Canadian market which both services are getting ready to launch in.

It's a WAY overpriced deal for an extremely damaged league who doesn't look like they have the leadership to patch themselves up, and a lot of bandwidth to suck up, to boot.

Will it hurt SIRIUS in Canada? How many teams are left in Canada? 'Nuff said.

Note to SIRIUS: lock in the NBA and add an NBA channel now that the NHL will soon be gone. Do that, and this won't even be a blip.
Man, all the negativity in this thread is amazing.

1. Toronto Maple Leafs
2. Ottawa Senators
3. Montreal Canadians
4. Calgary Flames
5. Edmonton Oilers
6. Vancuver Canucks

Looks like all those crazy canucks are flying out of hockey.
