Thumbs up Bob Dylan: Special Holiday Episode

Very Cool:

XM will air a special holiday episode of Bob Dylan’s hugely popular and award winning weekly program, “Theme Time Radio Hour,” on December 20, it was announced today. In addition to music, the two-hour show will also feature a complete reading by Dylan of the classic poem, “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” as well as his recitations of other holiday-themed anecdotes and insightful commentary on holiday traditions around the world.

This special episode of “Theme Time Radio Hour” will be devoted to the theme of “Christmas and New Year’s,” with a song list that spans the decades, including “Who Took The Merry Out Of Christmas” by The Staples Singers, “Sock It To Me Santa” by Bob Seger, “Jingle Bells” by Johnny Paycheck and “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve” by Nancy Wilson, among many others. The two-hour holiday episode of “Theme Time” will debut on Wednesday, December 20 at 10 a.m. ET on XM’s Deep Tracks channel (XM 40), with additional encores airing on XM through the end of the month.

In addition, XM will ring in the New Year with a “Theme Time Radio Hour” marathon, broadcasting every episode of Dylan’s “Theme Time Radio Hour” back- to-back, beginning December 31 at 12 noon ET on The Village (XM 15), continuing through New Year’s Day.

Thanks for the info. I know you get a lot of flack for posting XM info here on SIRIUSBackstage. Since I don't visit the XM web site or XM Fan forums very often it is great to have this information provided.

By the way O&A suck! LOL J/K... O&A like Stern isn't for everyone, in fact there is a segment of subscribers that probably could live without either one. I almost fit in the category myself.

Thanks again.

I am glad to help.

If you ever want quick XM information for future major events, you can go to www.whatsonmyxm.com. They are usually on the home page so you don't have navigate through the website.

Seriously DAB, something needs to be done about certain people jumping people's throats in this forum. This is the only place dual subs like myself can talk about the other side without trolls coming in, like on the XM boards. It just feels a lot less friendly to talk about XM here lately, and I have the right to be here, as I'm not a troll, and it's known that I'm a dually. Let's keep the O&A vs. Howard pissing matches in the Howard forum if possible. I'm not telling you guys how to run your site, but I like the site, and I want it to be all it could be, and the tool factor has went way up lately.

Posts like this is what I'm talking about. Is that necessary? If you guys think I'm being an ass here, then I'll leave, but I don't think I'm being that unreasonable.

i, too, am a dual sub. and i probably have been longer then about anybody on this board. and i find there is a very strong anti-xmsr bias around here.

you expect it a bit because this is the siri board after all. but it seems that any discussion of xmsr, particular in a positive light, is not well tolerated. and any criticicm of siri is a 'bash' and not allowed.

ive posted on xmfan before years ago and never yet been rebuked for anything i ahve said about xmsr (and there was a time i thought siri was better and often said so).

lots of thin skins around here - can dish it out but cannot take it. the poster you mentioned is one of them who fits this category.

I agree with you I don't want to see anyone turned away. I am not sure what is going on that some folks seem to treat everyone that mentions XM as a troll. I think most of you know I totally disagree with that. All I can tell you guys is that I will monitor this and do my best to make sure it doesn't happen. I will also ask the other mods to review this thread because I think if all of us step up in this way, we'll stop all this.

I don't think you are being an ass at all, you are being honest and I appreciate the heck out of that. If I had my way I'd open up an area on the forum for dual sub XM'ers, but the admins have to approve that.

If any of you feel you are being targeted unfairly and one of us don't jump in then by all means send one of us a private message.

Sorry to say I have to disagree with you. Sure there maybe a few folks that are a bit zealous. But much of what you've encountered has been due to your own anti-sirius, XM bias that you've clearly posted in thread after thread. Don't compare yourself with other folks, because your own behavior is the reason you've gotten much of the reaction you have.

Folks like gilpdawg and goreds2 do not post in the manner in which you do. They state their opinions and then let it go. You on the other hand argue and often times create quite a stir unnecessarily.

I have no problem having XM posted in a positive light I've done that myself, nor do I have a problem with SIRIUS being cast in a negative light, I've done that too. But when that is all you do then I think your true colors begin to shine through very obviously to others. It has nothing to do with people not wanting to see the truth or being blind. It has to do with what is your reason for being on a SIRIUS Fan forum and yet all you have to say is nothing but negative. While I think both have negatives, they also both very much so have positives and I see no benefit and ONLY focusing on the negatives.
