No live reception, no interest. Niche product. I'll stick with my old-ass MyFi thanks. If my MyFi craps out, I'd get one if the price is right, but I know I ain't paying the Inno price, and the MyFis are harder to come by now.

I am thinking about getting a MyFi to keep in storage in the event one of mine goes out.

they really are. the unit is at the end of its life and i'd imagine the production costs have gone down to nothing so they figure break even on the unit and try to get some sub money out of it. for 10-25 bucks its a great little unit and the best part is you get a passport with it. That alone sells for 30 bucks.

Default 10 bucks?

That's the right price. Hey any of you guys know what happens to the MP3 capabilities of the unit once it's de-activated or the subscription is not renewed?

Does it still function like a small mp3 player once you cancel, or does it just not work?

half the partition memory can be used as a standard mp3 player at any time

Thanks for the reply. I ordered one on Saturday from Crutchfield. I hope it comes by this Friday or Saturday at the latest or I won't be able to use the rebate. Then a 10 dollar deal turns into a 70 dollar blunder.

Too bad I can't activate with XM before the radio comes UPS.

Responding to a reply from my earlier post. If you don't use the Nexus for at least 8 hours in a month then it shuts down the recorded content.

What if you get 6 months of service, then cancel the subscription? The XM boards say you lose all you mp3 content. When not a subscriber, this unit's mp3 capabilities are stripped??

you will only lose access to xm recorded content. your loaded mp3 files are there until you delete them, reformat the memory or the unit dies.

For anyone who had regrets about missing this...XM has extended the rebate to 3/31, and the price remains the same.

Makes me regret paying for the accelerated shipping...but not too much!

So, what do you think about it? I know a couple of people that bought these before the big sale and they both returned them. I've honestly never checked them out, just wondering what your take is on it.

I think it's going to address my needs very well. I'm not going to ever get a sat signal for either service at my desk, and working in IT, I need to support our company's streaming policy. I also have a short commute, so my primary listening is at home. With the Nexus I can listen during the evening, or when working from home, then record 8 hours of content every night, and listen offline the next day at the office. I don't need any of the shock jocks or news. Over the long holiday weekend, I'm loading it up, so I'll have 3-4 choices of what to listen to on Wednesday, then I'll replace that content Wednesday night.

XM also seems to repeat their special programming at different times, so I'll normally get a chance to record interesting content overnight. I'd also say that I get "cleaner" recordings off this then I ever did from a friend's TimeTrax, as you'd expect.

It's not a perfect unit, and I am finding the remote worthless. XM's activation scheme is not as efficient as Sirius', so that was a little frustrating. But yesterday, I was flipping between the Totally 70s Satellite Survey for 1976 on Sirius and Casey Casem's AT40 for 1977 on XM. Best of both worlds!

Default XM's issues

XM is different than Sirius. Year long Sirius user received my Nexus 25 last friday. I like it. I have some mp3's and some XM content on it. I can take it anywhere, and it's small. It's easy to use. XM activation takes longer, but their streams upload much quicker than Sirius.

It's a trade off, but I'll give XM 6 months and then decide if I need it. The other night a friend came by and I had both on and hooked up in the house. We like hip-hop and just switched back and forth finding the best song. That was fun.

Crutchfield is now reporting these as "This item is no longer available" They're going to be collectors' items!

Soon is NOW! I was at Circuit City last night and they had the Nexus for $79.95 with an $80.00 rebate. They'll actually PAY you to take one...
