Post Howard not giving Artie his due

I know someone else mentioned it before but I feel like Howard is totally downplaying Artie's recent successes. He was on Letterman for the first time for God's sake and I think howard glossed over it today. When Howard goes on Letterman there's like a week long discussion before and after. He seems to be extra nasty with his insults to Artie lately too. Howard can't take anyone getting more attention than him. What an ass.
Imagine if Robin's dopey talk show ever takes off, Howard would lose it.

I agree, Howard's been cutting Artie off more than usual. Maybe I'm just looking too much into it, but it kinda does seem like Howard may be feeling threatened by Artie's new found fame.

I disagree, Artie gets too much attention on the Stern show, to the point where it's getting boring.

I think it's all part of the show, he's not really being a dick, it's just for the show. I'm sure Howard wants Artie to be as successful as possible.

It's possible Howard is downplaying it to keep Artie from getting the big "Jackie" head. I think Artie only has a 1 year contract so he'll be negotiating again in a few months.

Oh, I didn't know this. Interesting. Well, I love ARtie, but Howard would find someone great to take over for him. And I think Artie knows that he owes Howard big time for putting him on the map.

I don't see Artie leaving at this point. As someone pointed out a while back, the one-year contract was because he was afraid there wouldn't be enough listeners to book up his comedy gigs. As it turns out, not only is he selling out everything he books in record time, but now he's got gigs on Letterman and Carnegie Hall. Sirius has done good for him.

Wouldn't surprise me if the reason Robin isn't hosting a talk show right now is because Howard nipped it in the bud. Howard makes it clear his show is the priority. Gary, Sal, KC, Stuttering John, etc. all book their appearances over the weekend.

Artie is the first employee who has - or thinks he has - options since Jackie. Howard is purposfully trying to kill his confidence to keep him in line.

He already feels his radio show doesn't get the respect it deserves, so if an employee chooses another gig over their regular job responsibility, it drives him over the edge.

It makes sense to me. What other professions allow you to moonlight on other jobs?

I'm pretty sure some of the Kill or Be Killed shows are done during the week. This is from Robin's bio on wikipedia:

"Quivers signed a television deal with Sony in 2004 for her own talk show. She began to explore independent opportunities during the FCC indecency crackdown earlier in the year. This talk show was supposed to happen in fall 2006 according to what Howard said on Larry King Live, but she revealed on the air in March 2006 that the deal had stalled. She has claimed that a lack of available time slots due to competition from other celebrities who also signed talk show deals was the primary reason for her show's failing." Doesn't sound like Howard had anything do do with the show not airing.

I think that there has been a huge amount of tension between Artie and Howard lately. Howard is certainly doing a fine job of getting his jabs in more often than he usually does, but Artie sort of seems to take it all in stride. I don't know who is rightr here, Howard or Artie. On one hand you have Howard Stern, who is known to be one of the most jealous and power hungry persons in entertainment. On the other hand you have Artie, a great addition to the show, but someone with a long track record of fucking Howard and crew over. In a way I feel like Artie takes advantage of Howard, backing him into a corner to the point where he finally has to show his teeth a little.

Who knows?!

The only thing I do know is this...without Artie the Howard Stern Show still kills for as long as it's on the air. But Artie without the show? Well, he'd just be a fat, hacky comic scrounging around for his next gig.

Knowing this to be true, Artie should probably watch his step a bit.

I think Howard has a conscious or unconscious tendency to emasculate anyone on his team who a) has some outside success or b) suddenly thinks he is Howard's buddy or c) becomes the center of attention for some other reason. Recently Artie was a little late getting to the studio. In the midst of grousing about Artie coming in late, Howard asked Gary if he thought anyone would go see Beer League. I must say I loved his honesty - saying out loud what he was thinking - but the implication was that Artie movie career was a joke. I don't think Howard was opposed to Robin's talk show. He never said a negative word about it on air.

In my opinion, Howard puts Robin and Fred in an entirely different category than the rest of the team. That's why he never complained abotu Robin's show.

I thought it was just a way to bust his balls for being late. Basically, it was if you're not here, we'll talk shit about you. A good motivator to not be late.
