Default Regular Guys to 101?

Howards should pick these guys up. I used to really dig those guys in L.A.:

Regular Guys fired after Yogi and Panda lawsuit
Atlanta Business Chronicle - October 24, 2006

It's like deja vu, all over again.

For the second time in about three years, Clear Channel Communications Inc. has fired Larry Wachs and Eric Von Haessler, better known as The Regular Guys Show, from the morning slot at 96Rock (WKLS-FM). The termination follows a lawsuit filed by fellow morning DJs Juan Tapia and José Carias, who co-host "Yogi y Panda por la Mañana" on Clear Channel's WWVA-FM Viva 105.7, a Hispanic Top 40 station.

In their Oct. 17 lawsuit, the pair claims Wachs and Von Haessler made several offensive on-air statements about their sexual orientation, race and nationality, and that Clear Channel "largely ignored" their complaints about the Regular Guys' behavior.

On. Oct. 9, the suit claims, Wachs followed Tapia and Carias into a restroom at Clear Channel, where he recorded their conversation and "certain offensive sounds while they were utilizing the facilities."

The next day, the Regular Guys played the recording during their show, according to the suit.

Wachs confirmed The Regulars Guys show has been canned again on his personal blog.

"In the past week, my partner, Eric Von Haessler, and I have been silent during a paid suspension while we awaited the results of a company investigation into a minor incident that has since snowballed into something that now demands a public response due to the fact that the principals on the other side are attempting to distort the facts and smear my reputation as a citizen and broadcaster and, in the short term, withhold my income without review or discussion with us," Wachs writes.

Wachs said the bad air between the two morning shows began last year, during the national Hispanic illegal alien protests. The Regular Guys invited Yogi and Panda to come on their show to talk about the protests after some Spanish-speaking Regular Guys fans called claiming Yogi and Panda were encouraging their listeners to boycott and take the day off. After appearing on the Regular Guys show, Wachs said, the Viva crew went to Clear Channel management to claim they had been disrespected.

"Clear Channel management told them on more than one occasion that the opinions we express on the air are fair game, as are theirs, and protected not only by CC company policy, but also the 1st Amendment, and that if they didn't want to look bad on the air, perhaps they shouldn't agree to come on our show in the future," Wachs said. "Nonetheless, the complaints continued unbeknownst to me through the year."

In early October, Wachs said he had a recorder with him while going to use the company bathroom, and heard Yogi and Panda shouting insults about him from behind closed stall doors. He recorded the duo, then played it on the Regular Guys Show.

"This sparked another round of complaints to the company, who offered reasonable solutions to satisfy their ongoing and baseless grievances, but, insisting it was about the 'honor of their culture,' Mr. Tapia and Mr. Carias went ahead and filed the criminal charge in Fulton County Magistrate Court against me and then filed civil complaints in Superior Court of Fulton County, Ga., against the company for 'negligent hiring' and harassment and invasion of privacy charges against me personally, omitting in the affidavit the salient fact that all remarks made about them and immigration were on the air, never off the air," Wachs said.

Tapia and Carias are seeking unspecified damages for invasion of privacy and for Clear Channel's decision to re-hire the Regular Guys, who were fired by the nation's largest radio company in March 2004 over a sexually explicit broadcast.

"A case of a humorous prank has turned into a culture clash, a suppression of 1st Amendment rights, and a ridiculous smear campaign against me as well as termination of my income without due process," Wachs said.

The Regular Guys, a top draw among men ages 25 to 54, had been off the air since the lawsuit was filed.

I think I have a clip of Howard arguing with them on the air somewhere... If I find it i'll post it. That clip is the only time i've ever heard them, and they seemed like unfunny douches.

Kidd Chris is the only regular radio guy i'd like to see on 101.

What time slot on 101 would you put them in ? I doubt they will fire Bubba, and hope they wouldn't fire Ferrall.

There's an available time slot on the Who Gives a Shit channel. That might work.

Sounds like top notch comedy. how have I lived without these guys this long? It's hard enough trying to understand what the pests are posting about, could you imagine a feud with a hispanic station? Ay Caramba!!!

well, it's been years since I've heard them, but in LA they were pretty much topical talk-kinda-stuff. I know in ATL they went in more of a stern-clone mode (porn stars, etc...), so can't comment on them lately. They were/are missed in LA though.

They still need a overnight show. So they could fit there if they hired them, but I doubt they hire them.

Howard talked to them once on air and they were calling him an
OLD MAN and being total douchbags. No chance they get on 101.

( then again Bubba talked some shit about Howard and look where
he is now ) Ponderous man, ponderous.
