During this morning's 6 o'clock hour (Nov. 9), the gang talked more about Cindy and the Playboy issue. I enjoyed hearing Artie get all excited about the hot black chick in the issue. I'm used to Artie's jokes about black people so it was cool to hear that he can actually be attracted to black women.

Howard has always done this, which is why he is the master interviewer. Do you think if Howard started off by saying how the photos looked like shit he'd (a) Get any more semi-celebrities who pose in Playboy or (b) get that semi-celebrity to talk about everything from her bowel movements to her love of analingus? Stern used to have fueding rock stars on the show and would take completely opposite sides during an interview with each, just to get the dirt to fuel the interview, sometimes having them on at the same time (i.e. Marky and Joey Ramone in a classic on-air battle). He's actually changed sides within a single question, making it seem like he's on both sides of an argument and having each side believe he's supporting them. It is a testament to his talent that he can be so obviously full of shit and yet still get the interviewee to reveal secrets that Barbara Walters could not hope to wrangle out of them; even though he tearing them up the day (or hours or even minutes) before the interview. Bottom line is: Howard doesn't care about hypocrisy, he cares about great radio. If you are looking for him to stay true to his words, you are listening to the wrong show.

Actually being I have an S50 I get to hear quite a bit of the stern shows.
I heard when he was talking about the pix before she came in...he was saying how hot the pictures were and they WERE the best pix ever and he couldnt believe it was her without airbrushing and when she came in she apparently does look like she does in pictures --he always said they were great. I still think she looked better heavier but to each his own.

I'm not talking about the day Cindy came in, I was referring to when the photos came out, which was about a week before her appearance. On that show, Howard was talking about how airbrushed they were and how he thought that she didn't really look like that. I know that he has to treat the guests well when they come into the show and I didn't expect him to criticize the pics, I just thought he went a little overboard in praising them. Simply saying stuff like "your photos look great" or "wow, you're hot" would have been enough, but the bit about "these are the best pictures Playboy has ever printed" just sounded a little ridiculous to me. Especially since Cindy's been on the show before and faced some tough criticism, like when Howard used to get after her about the whole "Most Downloaded Woman" thing. She knows what to expect on the show, so I didn't think that he needed to pump her up as much as he did.

Yes, that's very true, but...(and I can't believe I'm typing this) it's just like what Ralph said the other day on the Wrap Up Show; 'Howard was being a hypocrite? Which day?'.---- face berry dripping wet with sarcasm---
