I'm glad someone brought this up. When I was listening to the segment, I thought it was so funny that Howard had no clue about aftermarket exhausts, the 5 or so horsepower they can add, and the general reasons why guys modify their vehicles. It's not really a mystery.

I agree, both Howard and Robin seemed clueless why anyone would put on a "device" to make your engine louder. Heck, i just put a Magnaflow muffler on my Regal GS last year, it sounds better and has more power now. Howard I'm not surprised, but Robin, with how much she loves her cars should be more knowledgeable I would think.

I think its safe to say that both Howard and Robin are two of the most technologically impaired people on Earth.

Nearly 30 years later and Howard still can't work his phones correctly.

Christ I have no idea either. We're not all gearheads you know! I still can't understand why someone would ever want to make their car/motorcycle louder. Seems really fucking childish/stupid. "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE look at me and my loud car.............weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eee" = GAY

The intent is not to make the vehicle louder, but to allow the exhaust to flow more freely which lets the engine work better. Altho, I'm sure some just do it for the sound or the look. Of course when you start out with something that is already loud, it just makes it more obvious...

That's a relief. Thanks for clarifying.

Stickers will commonly add 5-8 horsepower per sticker. Just be sure to apply them evenly to both sides. Too many stickers on one side will cause torque-steer...
