Default The new Cryshler/Sirius commericals are good...why not Howard?

I think it would be brilliant for Howard to do a funny incommerical kind of like he did for "Miss America" (I remember loving that thing when it aired!), but for some reason, he hasn't even done a commerical. Sirius is doing great but why not put some effort into a commerical. I know Sirius is doing well but it could be doing better. The commericals for Chryshler (sp?) are great...better than anything Sirius has done...."It knows what you're thinking"...fuck off! I think with some effort, Sirius could easily be number one but they still act like second place.

They have done at least 2 Howard commercials that I have seen. The one had a still picture of him with the white background and he was holding the Sirius microphone, and the latest one, which was clips from the last day at terrestrial rally.

Why SIRIUS hasn't had a Howard Stern exclusive commercial is completely beyond me. They're sitting on a fucking gold mine and choose to not take advantage of it for some unbeknownst reason. Honestly, I've given up on trying to understand the reasoning behind the majority of decisions they make. Apparently they like settling for "good enough".

They HAVE made a Howard Stern exclusive commercial, the one that was clips from the last day rally at terrestrial radio. It aired a couple weeks ago during the football games.

Everyone who knows Howard Stern know where Howard Stern is. Spending money by putting him in an exclusive commercial makes no sense to me because it would not bring in any more subs. You either like him or hate him.

They are catering to the hate him category by not putting him in ads. He has already done his job. He goes on many different shows and promotes Sirius. He is in the newspapers all the time. Why waste money putting him in a commercial when it really will not attrack that many more subscribers, if any, since he is a cult following and everyone who follows him knows where he is.

On a side note, I am wondering how many internet subscribers have signed up. For the longest time, almost every thread said that they had tons of friends who had not signed up yet because they could not get it in their office, but since he is now on the internet, I am imagining Sirius is raking in the cash now since all of those office holdouts have signed up (I assume).

Oh, missed that one. Can anyone provide a link to it?

Gotta disagree. Sometimes people (and yes, that even includes former FM listeners) have to actually "see it" to believe it before making that giant leap to a new format. And believe it or not, there's actually people in this world who DON'T know he is ...and they could very well be potential subscribers. Plus Howard himself has discussed on-air some of the commercial ideas he's pitched to SIRIUS.

Yeah, and is that such a bad thing? Do we really wanna attract the "soccer mom" crowd? Of course I'm semi-kidding, but honestly I do sometimes shudder to think what impact bringing large numbers of the family crowd over will have.

Hey Chad, the link to the Howard commercial that was shown during football is no longer working.

Not true at all. I've had conversations with people who have asked, "Oh, you have Sirius? Is Stern on that one or on the other one?"

And if they are asking that question, they are not a Stern follower. They are just someone who knows of Stern. IMO, they would not go out and get Sirius just because Howard was on it (or not on it). They would be one of the subs who would go out and get it for other reasons.

Me, I got it before STern even was listed. I chose Sirius because they had NFL. I chose satellite because no commercials. Am I happy with Sat - yes I am. Would my choice change if Howard was over at XM. not at all. Do I listen to Howard - sometimes, but I only stay on his channel if I think it is good, which is rarely. I liked Buba at first, but he is getting a little too hard core for me. Is Howard (and his group) an asset to Sirius. most definitely.

All my point was, that anyone who listens to Howard and follows Howard knows where he is. Whether they have signed up or not is a different story. For those out there who do not listen to Howard on a regular basis, or not at all, I do not see him being the driving force for someone getting Sirius instead of XM. They first have to have the itch to cross that line to Satellite. Ocne they do that, it comes down to preference and choice. May Howard influence a choice (of a non-listener), maybe, but he will not be the reason they decide to make the jump to Sat radio.

Have a great day

Oh, Sirius has done commericals that feature him in stock footage, but why doesn't Howard get up off his ass and do a commerical.

The fact that they never said anything about that tells me it wasn't the success they hoped for. Kind of surprising. I guess you do have a point, but I assume that there are a lot of people who have been interested in Howard but never heard him live. His fans know he's moved, but I wonder how many other people do.

I think most people, music is the reason why they get a sattelite radio. Which one has Howard will probably tip a lot of people toward Sirius. I don't think, as Howard seems to suggest, they would buy a different car to get Sirius instead of XM.
