If that's a such a big deal, explain Bob Levy,Yucko....He doesn't seem to have a beef with them!

I have to admit, that I ending up sleeping through this interview. I had the radio on but feel asleep. I wasn't feeling good and didn't get any sleep all night. Maybe it's because I kept waking up and falling back alseep but everything I heard sounded like a shouting match, but not an angry one....Again, I'm very sick and probably just need to catch a replay in order for it to make sense.

Is there a specific reason Howard dislikes Jack Black or is it just because he finds him unfunny?

I, for one, love JB and "The D" and can't wait to hear him on the show.
Of course you do. You think Borat is funny too. I bet you think Stiller and Ferrell are comedy geniuses too. Geez if there ever was a defineable polar opposite of funny, its Jack Black. He's the AC/DC of comedy. Completely unwatchable. I wont even get started on Tenacious D's horrible music. Lets just say it has the redeeming value of a gum wrapper.

Ok... you obviously don't get Borat, but that's ok. It seems, however, that you have SO much to say about what ISN'T funny, why don't you enlighten all of us on what exactly it is that you do find funny?

Clearly you have chosen me as a target to vent your frustration with the fact that many people do not share your hightened sense of humor... so, please... educate me.

I'll throw in my two cents.

I think Borat is hilarious, but I can't stand Jack Black. I just looked through his imdb and couldn't find ONE funny movie he's starred in.

Anyway, did anyone catch the interview, if so, how was it?

Ya, the only watchable movies i have found with him in is High Fidelity and Cable Guy. In those movies he wasnt even the comedic "star" (so to speak). He played "filler" roles. He should stick to that.

Fair enough. You are right i shouldnt "target" you. I just find Borat irritating and since you seem to have latched on to him i suppose i attached you to him in a sense. My apologies. I think the mood of this thread needs to be shifted back to more pleasant. I suppose its my fault it soured here. I still say Borat was funnier when he was Yakov Smirnoff. But thats just me i guess. But i still mean it about Mystery Science Theater

As someone who enjoys both Gypsy and Joel and Borat but not Yakov, let me add my two cents...
There is a difference between Yakov and Borat in that Yakov's entire act depended on his stand up act whereas Borat goes improv on the world and tries to engage himself into situations where he can exploit "real" reactions. Yes, there is an element of, "In your country/my country" with Borat, but it's not his whole schtick, with Yakov that pretty much is all of his act.

I enjoy the gonzo style comedy that Sasha Baron Cohen provides, whether it's Da Ali G or the gay televison fashion commentator(forget his name) or Borat, he's a very funny guy and is quick on his feet. I recommend that you watch Season 1 & 2 of Da Ali G(available on DVD everywhere but Tower Records) and get back to us.

Perhaps your ideal situation would be to see MST3K giving their take on the Borat movie?

Admittedly, I have never seen MST. I will check it out and let you know what I think.

As for Borat, the thing about the character is that, yes, it is over the top, but it is over the top for a reason. Through this insane character, Sacha Baron Cohen is able to shine a light on how backwards some parts of the U.S. still are. For example, Borat is outrageously anti-semetic, but the thing is, Sacha Baron Cohen is Jewish. Through this character, he is able to get regular people to "open up" about their pure anti-semitism. While the character Borat is crazy, what's more crazy is how many Americans are happy to sing along to a song about "throwing the Jew down the well" while dancing and wearing "Jewish horns".

If you give Borat a chance, and you can put up with the wild idiot behavior, what Sacha Baron Cohen is showing the audience is truly eye-opening... even frightening.

That's just my 2 cents.

Any thoughts on the interview. They were talking too much over each other. Seems like there is no bad blood there (again, I never remember any negative Jack Black comments) but Kyle was very uncomfortable and kept fumbling through the interview. He really didn't have it together.

Kyle never has it together during interviews. I guess it's part of his charm, or the character that he has become. I enjoyed the interview. It was certainly not a typical Stern interview, but I enjoyed it non-the-less.

I've never seen him interviewed but he is great on their old show/first album. That reminds, I can't wait to get their album, which I'm shocked they didn't mention.
