Only caught the first 2 hours. The rant about ratings was classic. The numbers he got back then were amazing -

#1 overall with a 7.0 in NYC.
#1 with a 14.0 in Men 25-54 in NYC.
#1 overall in LA.
#2 overall in Chicago in 6 months time.

and yet he still had columnists saying he was "plummeting" (and Robin probably still won't kiss him on the mouth ).

Nothing changes . . .

You're right about the ratings success. Those were the days.......

I wonder what type of ratings the current product would produce if it were aired on FM?

Agreed, I love hearing guys who are both great at doing impressions AND funny. You can do a great impression but not have anything funny to say, but I always thought Billy was the funniest one on the show whenever he was on.

Well, his last book was a #1 at ~6.0 in NYC, so he went out on top. They'd probably be higher today if he was allowed the freedom on FM that he's got on Sirius. Then again, he might be trailing Imus (Not!).

And I'm sure David Lee Roth was the reason he was only #2 in Chicago after 6 months.

Either that or the spanish channel was killing everyone . . . Shoot, the spanish station never beat Howard back in the day. Well maybe the show after his was bringing him down . . . Oh wait, Howard usually propped up the numbers of the shows that followed his.

Never mind!

I've been catching today's MTT here and there and it seems to be only about two things....OJ and ratings (and to go along with that his lame competitors). Great topics but they need something else. On top of that, the show went kind of long, past 10! Who knows how long that would've been with longer commericals. Considering they keep playing such OJ heavy material, why not replay something from right after they found him innocennt and/or right after the news broke. Those would be interesting listens.

The 1995 year of shows were some of my most favorite and yes, there was a ton of O.J. talk during that time. This MT show was about a week after the verdict was read. In my opinion that show was more interesting, for starters Robin wasn't in the studio. Sadly, Billy would be leaving the show not more than a month or so later.

The best shows in my opinion were from 1992(first year i was able to listen) to 1995 i think because of Billy West & he did leave in 1996 i think it effect the show, the news(normally my favorite part of the show) wasn't quite the same once Artie got there it pick up, now on Sirius it's back to those early days.

Robin wasn't in....that must've been really fucking interesting! Maybe that's why there is no rush to play it but I think they have to be building up to it. Thanks for the history.
