As excited as i was for the tapes, i jsut can't really get into MTT. Maybe it's the strange randomness or the semi-exciting shows or the fact that it has happened already, I don't know. It's on my S50 but I'm not really compelled to listen. I played some Bubba, Greg Fitzsimmons show so my wife could Hear Sara Silverman, and some music today. maybe over the weekend I'll listen but the excitement i have every other morning of the work week isn't there...

Today's show was one that I totally remembered. A great show. I love hearing Jackie's sharpie while Robin and Howard talked about the stolen plaque. The ball busting of Jackie was great, too.

The best way to incorprate "The Friday Show" into it would be having Gary tell us behind the scenes stuff. He's usually great at remembering stuff like that. Even a short intro.

Take that explanation and apply it to Howard's ex-wife, any negative mention of Leslie Moonves and Joel Hollander, his take on the early stages of the second Iraq war and 'bang!...you've got a Master Tape Theater. I guess the one positive is that those 2005(August---November)shows will be about an hour long.
Have you heard any actual editing, though? Right now I just think they seem to be doing a good job of picking shows where Allison just isn't mentioned but that's sure strange since she was kind of mentioned all the time....That being said...Didn't Allison call in when Robin made that blow up about her birthday gift. Holy shit, I watched it on E! and I think she did. Those fuckers! I know they've said that they have to edit the tapes but I was hoping that was only for purposes of commericals (although some live commericals can be entertaining so that's even a shame) but I could've sworn him say some shit like "Yeah, we got edit out dated references"...but that is where the joy in MTT is! The dated stuff, what was happening at the time. The Jackie renogations...Come on! If Howard is really editing the tapes that much, he really sucks!

I haven't been able to A/B any show as of yet, but I know the show never ended with Jerry Seinfeld on the show making a request for 'Crystal Blue Persuasion' and getting it played only to hear it end ubruptly. Once they start playing more shows after 1995 you could match them up to the log on Marksfriggin, although his early logs read more like a brief synopsis of the show rather than what it's become today. I've posted with others who have the orginal shows and the MT shows and they say they are heavily edited. Alison being the main reason.

That's so fucking disgusting. They probably did edit her out. Wonder if that was her request. She was very entertaining so that's a real fucking shame! Divorce yourself from Allison and reality, Howard! Hopefully more people put two and two together and start bitching. I'll write an email but I'm sure I'll get no response!

Yeah, not only that but Alison kind of legitimized Howard and his antics. Whenever someone would proclaim Howard as being the devil, his fans could always point to Howard and Alison's relationship and say, "he's not a bad guy, he's a family man". Howard would always point out to grab ass preachers that Howard was a better man, a faithfull man, a married man.

I have a tape from an old show where Emily comes into the studio and she sings a song for Howard with Alison alongside, some song she learned in school...it was very charming....you'll NEVER hear it again.

Totally! Now that I think of it, to listen to most of those shows, you would assume he is single (he never even talks about possible sex with Allison...I could've sworn I've heard him say more than once "When I have sex with a woman/girl...."). Not just legitmizing him but she was a good call in nearly every time. Hopefully they didn't just toss her in the garbage and can edit her back in....Maybe we can get Howard to recosider. Since Jackie has done the show and his leaving wasn't as big a deal as we all thought, the definte dream guest for most real Stern fans almost has to be Allison, especially if she continues to be edited out of history like this. It sucks because now all I can think of his Howard at his worst (the post-"Jackie" years...those were brutal).

BTW, I never remeber Allison stepping into the studio. I guess I'm wrong but I haven't been listening as long.

Yes, that's something this forum definitely needs...

I just don't get why you torture yourself so much with this show. I know that nothing helps a bad mood like spreading it, but it just gets tiresome hearing about how awful Howard's show is and how he doesn't care and he censors Allison. 23,000 hours of tape and you're worried about the times when he talked to his wife???

I hope I didn't mention that his show was awful because I certainly don't feel that it is. But I think it is worth mentioning that MT is edited, if not censored(depending on how Clintonian what would care to be)by the use of editing.

Another thing...I don't think it's cool to talk about 23,000 hours(however that number was derived)when the chances of getting anywhere near that hour figure is so astronomical only Artie would be seen somewhere in New Jersey betting on it. Not only that, but now with selective editing the 23,000 hours are being trimmed away minute by Doobie Brother minute.

It may be funny to say that the people who have pointed out in this forum about the genocidal tactics towards Allison are petty, but as I pointed out, it ain't just about Allison. As a fan of those shows in particular, I could only ever listen to the show in spurts at best, I had a job that made listening to talk radio nearly impossible. Now I have the opportunity to listen to entire shows, it's just too damn bad, sadly ironic that now when I have the chance to hear them as God made them, they've been altered for...well....I don't really know why, but they are being altered so now I have to speculate as to why. That's one of the reasons this board exists. I mean I hope it is. I don't want this board to be a place where people just regurgitate whatever Bigfoot said during the 7:00 drivetime.

Just throwing my 43 cents a day into the mix. Sorry to any and all that I may have over taxed in the process.

Did you ever think he's not doing it to rob you and you alone of the perfect listening experience you feel you are personally owed for your $12.99/month and that maybe, juuuust maybe, he's compelled to edit her out of the show because of his FUCKING DIVORCE AGREEMENT?????

Same thing for Les and Joel.
