Jgatie, you've taken your post from something VinnyM27 posted, but I feel your post could have just as easily been pointed towards me, that's the only reason I feel compelled to answer back.

I personally don't feel Howard is editing the show to rob me of my monthly contribution to the success of his employer, and let's face it, of Howard...Howard IS Sirius. If Sirius fails the media will focus squarely on Howard, not Martha Stewart, the NFL or Radio Korea. I hardly think for a millisecond that his failure would be lost on the likes of Opie and Anthony or any of his radio detractors.

I'm pretty sure that the reason the shows are edited is because of what lawyers have ironed out a long time ago, regardless of the impetus being an ex-spouse or an ex-boss.

My points in this topic are to highlight to anyone reading this that the shows are not completely uncensored(as described and as sold to the fans). Sure, we get to finally hear Lawrence Taylor and Beetlejuice curse, but we don't get to hear Howard talk about his wife, or rather talk to his wife on the phone. That part of his show was a big part of the show for many years and in my opinion made him appear to be a real charming guy underneath the guy who wished cancer on anyone who stood in his way to be number one in the Arbitron raitings.

I could take or leave all of the doomsday talk involved with Leslie and Joel, but that too was a HUGE part of the show towards the end of his run at KROCK. If those sections are cut from his shows, those last few months of shows will run just a little over an hour, if lucky. Does that sound good to anyone? In some ways, yes...but the idea of it SUCKS BALLS.

Does the editing of this material in ANY WAY take away from my enjoyment?...Yes, of course it does...bigtime. Would Mastertape be a better show without the editing?...Absolutely. Have I accepted it?....Uh..what are my options?...cancel?....oh yeah...it doesn't affect me that much, especially when I think that Howard's current show has been reborn and is better than ever. In fact I look forward to the day...many, many years from now when some satellite company replays the current batch of shows in a new edited edition because of 'First Lady' Governale's wishes.

Not my experience alone and I call bullshit on your claim! Sorry but unlike you I don't praise everything Howard does, include the 3 day weekends (slowly becoming a 3 day work week) so Waaah, I love everything Howard does and never questions him!

I think you can hear them on Thursdays at or around the break after Mike Walker's true or false game.

Do you think Howard knows, or cares, that most of his fans hate MTT - and many of the same fans have an issue with the almost part-time schedule the show is now taking? I mean - Sirius is pushing hard for holiday business, and using Howard to sell it. People who buy Sirius for Howard are going to be disappointed, when they see the show's new schedule.

I think I'm in the minority on this one, I like the Mastertape shows. My current problem with them(as has been discussed to death)is that the old shows are edited, in some cases, rather heavily.

Originally my main beef was that I felt the old shows should be placed into their own channel, the third channel that was long talked about by Howard during his KROCK days, or maybe he didn't, maybe those comments have been edited out, who knows? I think the main reason that Howard won't be working too many, if any at all, Fridays in the future is because he can use the Friday to now air Mastertape.

As a selling point to older fans, a third channel that played those shows would be a key selling point, but the fact that he and the crew have gone to a four day working week will leave the non hardcore fans where they are currently; outside of the satellite window looking in. The third channel couldn't have hurt the overall sales, in fact, I believe it could have helped sales.

Howard doesn't give a %*&$ about what his fans think and has said just that recently on numerous occasions.

His part-time schedule an overall lack of effort in the show beomes more apparent each week. This has definitely affected sales - big time. This time last year, subscriptions soared - not so this year.

The most effective form of advertising is word of mouth. If current subscribers are satisfied, they will tell others - same if they are dissatified.

When someone asks me about Sirius, I tell them the truth as I see it - if you are signing up for Stern alone (as I did), prepare for a watered-down, part-time version of a once great show.

Sad, but true. I'm sure they are making Howard go on Conan and Letterman this week (he didn't sound thrilled about it) to do some promotion to help Sirius this holiday season. But, if that's the case - the very fans he is "recruiting" during these visits are going to get radios for Christmas, and activate them, only to find Howard is on vacation again.

But, don't worry - here's some 20 year old shows for you! We even edited them down to remove certain elements that do not pertain to the revolution...

Damn! When you're right, you're right!

I think i'm in a position with Sirius and the show where I still love the show (Wednesday should go down in history!) but will bitch about it more than enough. I love it myself but I can't see trying to presaude others. I think that's why, for example, Subscriptions aren't growing hugely but Stellittos are flying off the sheleves even at crazy high prices. I would be really surprised if it it's new fans but a $350 piece of equipment!

Howard doesn't care about Sirius, he got paid thats all that matters. Anyone 100% committed would work 5 days a week, and come in on Columbus Day.

Not really. But, as fans of the show, you can still have a brain in your head - and not sit back and love everything about the show, just because Howard is doing it.

Face it, commercials are close to being out of control again, Howard works barely 4 days a week, takes tons of vacation time, and keeps forcing MTT on listeners and fans who, for the most part, don't want to hear old and irrelevant shows from 20 years ago as part of a pay subscription. I want the show to be what it can be, and the early part of 2006 was great. Will that be the "heyday" of the Howard Stern Show? Is that as good as it will ever be, and will it be all downhill from here? Will this spell the end for Sirius at some point?

I know one thing, it will - if fans don't speak up and complain. You can't do it on SFN (not really, anyway), so this might be the only place to do so.
