He needs to re-think that schedule. I can see 2 weeks, but 3 weeks is ridiculous.
Yes, indeed. But, don't worry new subscribers - you are paying to hear some 20 year old Howard shows, they're great trust us!

You mean like after the two-day free preview a few months ago on Wed-Thur, when he was off Friday?

Does anyone know when the show is back on? I am assuming Jan 8th, but the Best of commercial says 2 weeks of shows.

I wish they would have done an MTT of all the past christmas shows for the week before christmas.

Yeah, that was ironic. I just think they should be on next week and then come back the 8th. That's would be about 18 days.

In the bigger picture, I think the whole Sirius marketing, sales, customer service machine is very lame. They have superior content, but I think XM out-markets them. I signed up for a Howard Stern newsletter last January and have not had one contact from them. I sent about 6 tech service emails in January and never once got a reply. The only contact I've had from them was that phone spam last week. I have a feeling they are really understaffed and spend all their money on content. They make no effort to get in touch with their subscribers.

For marketing and sales, they should have taken a page from Microsoft and viewed OEM's (mfg.'s like car makers, stereo makers, Cable and Satellite TV guys, and yes, computer makers) as folks who will serve their content. MS became dominant early on by getting all the computer makers to bundle their software with their computers. Once they became dominant they had the leverage. Sirius should have done deals with every computer mfg. a year ago. Get 6 months free online when you register with Sirius. I went to buy a new Home Theatre receiver last month and just about every one I looked at had an inexpensive XM option but no Sirius capability. I'd love to listen to Sirius seamlessly via my Home Theatre setup. The number one reason holding satellite back is the perceived lack of "ease of use" It's not about the money. The avg. guy wants to be able to plug something in, turn it on, and start listening. Doing that work for them by getting the OEM's on board would result in millions of more subscribers. They should have a deal with Apple and their IPOd's as well. I could go on and on. The guys running Sirius seem to view themselves as a radio company which is very ironic. They need to view themselves as media content providers first and look to various hardware providers as their distributors. Cars are so obvious but there are tons of other ways to distribute the content.

I agree about the 'ease of use' being a huge stumbling block for subs, but I also think that there's a ton of people unwilling to pay for radio, plain and simple.

Well, Cable TV is the perfect example. TV was free when I was a kid and now I'm paying probably over $100/month once I factor in all my sports subscriptions. I never even new about the NFL package prior to signing up and now I get to hear the Bears broadcast even though I live near San Diego. I'd pay $10/month just for that. Too bad the White Sox are only on XM.

I can live with the three weeks of vacation. What saddens me is the fact that Howard's contract is now 20 percent done. He might be four years away from retirement. Then what are we going to do?

Me too! I don't get why this last "Best Of" has them taking about a Christmas party. Didn't they used to do live Christmas parties on the air? Wha happened? I've only heard the end and begining of the show (I've heard "As the Barbaque Turns"...holy shit that's offensive but funny, unlike O&A who just don't get it). Not a bad show (Funny bit, "Leonna Helmsley", Emo Phillips and Richard Simmons...that's pretty good!) but I would've prefered they played a real Christmas show.
