Default Howard could learn a lesson from O & A

As much as i can't stand O & A, I give them credit for actually working 5 days a week, and tomorrow they are doing a live show for some homeless shopping spree bit. Yeah, it'll blow, but the point is this... LIVE SHOWS!! Even on a Saturday!!! Not to mention the live shows that are now on Saturday nights when they let their hacky comic friends host a show. This is the way it should be on the weekends and when Howard is off. MTT sucks ass, and the replays on the weekend are lame. Yeah O & A suck, but at least they are giving their fans what they want, unlike a certain billionaire.

The Shopping Spree will only be carried live by ONE of their radio affiliates, ALL of their other markets decided to carry repeats of shows by other radio programs from the week along with the average-run of the mill 'car fixing'/'mortgage planning'/and 'music triple shot weekends' in their place. The Shopping Spree will be held over as a replacement show, quite possibly the following Monday.

I would agree with you about the weekend programming. They should be giving hungry talent a chance to grow some shows. Use the weekends, especially weekend nights as a minor league system for a future talent showcase.

I don't agree that MTT suck ass, I love it, but I think I'm in the minority on this one. Right now I'm listening to Billy West and a little later Richard Simmons is going to drop by.

What exactly is it that the O&A fans want? Do they want a sanitized 3 hour preshow to their XM show? I wonder how the O&A XM subscribers feel about paying full price for a 3 hour uncensored show when they used to get a 5 to 6 hour show? You're right, maybe they are giving their fans what they want, those millionaires.

I hate them, too - but you make interesting points. And, yes indeed - MTT sucks ass. I listened to 30 seconds of the old show today, and that was all I could take. I switched to live Bubba (thank goodness someone was on live) but he was talking about the one thing I hate that he covers - Nascar. So, off went Sirius, and I listened to CD's for the rest of my commute. Not a great endorsement for the service.

While it is not a big increase, it looks as though 4 to 5 affiliates are now going to carry the homeless shopping spree.

It is refreshing to have live shows on Saturday nights. There have been different hosts each time the past month.

The lesson to be learned by O&A?

1. Get hired on sattelite radio as a preimere show/attraction
2. Suck it radio on sat radio!
3. Have your contract allow you to have a show on testicale radio...again after they fired you!
4. Suck on free radio and get ratings not compariable to the big person you're replacing but to the rock star that apperently sucked so bad he needed to be taken off the air immediately.

Sounds like a good lesson to me. If you want to make an arguement for Howard working Fridays, don't bring up the guys who do a God awful three hour show, nearly half of it exhausted by commericals. Not a good example...not even close! Stop with the O&A bullshit cause it's getting out of hand or just start and O&A board here, which makes no fucking sense!

As for MTT sucking, it was beyond brilliant this week with Richard Simmons camping it up (BTW, for those of us how were super pissed at no Allison being allowed on MTT, she was on there for a few mintues!). It was right up there with the new shows. And while I would rather have a live show, a good MTT works my fucking world so much more than the live shows from hacks. Frankly, since the MTTs are so strong, I would take a good week of them over a second of O&A's live content....and why do you think they do shows on the weekend....They need these gimicks and yes, Howard and the gang have gotten sluggish and maybe we as subscribers need to say "Work a Friday" every so often but right now, it ain't broke, so don't fix it! I'm a little bit surprised by myself but that MTT was so fucking good, I would rather have that than Howard all pissed and wanting to leave early.

Bubba over the amazing Classic Stern show they plucked out...Richard Simmons for something like 2 hours...I don't get that at all.

Is it just because it's a repeat? For me, a lot of these shows are new and if they are old, they aren't that old (remember that shit when Howard went on vacation in June and was playing shows from the last week? The problem is, though, that I don't see people shuttig off their Sirius subscription anytime soon! The problem is it hasn't gotten that extereme yet...But when it does....Ouch! I think it's unfornate that Howard came to Sirius so late in his career....If he keeps up with this pace, there is no way in hell he'll resign, even for more money. It is kind of sad.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I love Stern and I love when he breaks. It means I won't worry about missing content. I don't have enough time to listen if he were on non-stop.

We all need a break from any media now and again. It allows us to get to explore other things and get things done.

It's refreshing.

Listen to Bubba, Jay Thomas, music or sports.

I think the people that suffer the most when Stern is on vacation are those that listen and absorb up to 10 hours of him per day. I think those people need a break too.

are you fucking crazy.Stern does 5+Hrs a day,20+ a week of kick ass radio.
O&A break at 6.20 for 10-13 min and at 7 for 10-13 min.and on and on.not to mention the show sounds like college fucking radio at best( I listened,it blows).and as far as this shopping spree live on Saturday, there off on Monday.and Believe me if O&A ever reach the popularity of Stern, they would be working less also.

Stern paid his fucking Dues.challenging management, the Goverment and every other BS Organization that would make O&A crap in there pants.

when Mel told O&A to not mention Stern back in the Krock days, they shut there mouths. If that were Stern he would have been Blasting Mel and O&A till he was fired.

while up and coming actors are making 3-5 movies a year,Brad Pitts making 1.

HE HAS NOTHING LEFT TO PROVE.

True, Opie and Dopie work five days a week, but Howard's a busy man. Hell, Carson worked four days a week and he was at the top of his game, even during retirement.

What could Howard possibly learn from OnA? After all, everything that Dopie and AintFunny do is lifted from Howard's show. They're just a couple of no-talent hacks who are desperate for Daddy Howard's attention.

I would hope Mr. Sterns show is COMMERICAL FREE to make up for not working Fridays + vacations.
