For the first 6 months, every time he worked a Friday, he was doing more than satisfying his contract.
It's okay, jgatie - I understand that you may not be a lifelong Howard fan like myself, so perhaps you don't know just how good his show can be, or how good he once was. I have listened to Howard since he was on WNBC in the afternoons, and all through the K-Rock era until now. The first few months at Sirius were fantastic (I reprinted your quote above to point out that Howard basically gave up Fridays well before 6 months - I think sometime in March or so was about it for Friday live shows) but since then, you have to be kidding me if you don't think the show has changed. All the vacations, 4-day weeks, and increased commercials may be okay with you, but as a fan - I am going to call bullshit when I see it. It's okay, you can do that and still be a fan. I am hoping that somehow, Howard will start to realize that some of his fans see things like the Monday bailout, and the 3 day week last week, as him being viewed as "lazy". Then, maybe we'll get the old Howard back, and you'll see what good radio can be. We saw flashes of it in 2006, but not consistently. If everyone keeps giving him a pass on all of these issues, he'll never change. Hell, he still thinks people like "Sir Hard N Thick" and MTT - he said so today on a clip during the "best of"!

It seems Howard just doesn't like doing the show anymore.

Been listening since 87, Chuckles. You assume wrong. I sometimes dislike things about the show, but not being a whiny 10 year old, I keep them to myself or discuss them rationally as an opinion, not a diatribe. I also don't have the delusion that if I keep complaining, Howard will sneak in here, surreptitiously scan my posts, have an epiphany about his show and start delivering what I personally want.

I know what good radio is, I get it almost every time I listen to Howard live. I also love MTT, it brings me back to the nostalgia of my youth and lets me remember the time when I first heard him. If I am not entertained, I turn it off. If Sirius continues to not entertain, I'll unsubscribe. What I won't do is post over and over and over the same whiny rant thinking I'm on some sort of crusade that will actually have an impact. I'd rather spend my time humiliating O&A fans, at least that gives me a laugh. My life is too short to waste time on all that negativity. YMMV.

PS, I find it funny the same person who rails on how good the show "used to be" also hates MTT. A little ironic, eh?
