That would be the first step onto the slippery slope, Scionic. What would be next, alcohol?

"The anti-smoking Nazis are taking over this country."

Thank goodness someone is stepping up to make our kids safer. Dumbasses shouldn't smoke around people who don't need/want that crap around them. If you want to kill yourself, fine. Don't keep breeding and smoke in your trailer !

Your kids are not property. You can't do "whatever you want" to them. It's not only your responsibility to raise your kids right but it's also everybody's responsibility if we don't want morons running around and carjacking people in the future. You're naive if you don't think so. The state can come in anytime and take those kids away if there's any wrongdoing, supported by taxpayer money.

Smoking is becoming socially unacceptable and it's going to keep going that way. I welcome it.

Wow! Anybody that could possibly be for laws like these clearly do not appreciate true democracy. Give it a few more years and the gov. will control what fucking church you go to. Might just as well go back the queen mother or sign up for communism. We clearly have almost no rights left. And NYC has already started regulating food. And Im sure that anybody that has a problem with smoking probably still crams 5 MacDonalds greaseburgers down their throat every week. Yes I am smoker. Yes I smoke in my car. and Yes it is MY FUCKING RIGHT to do what I want. I also dont feed my kids grease and fat 5 times a day. We eat fairly healthy.

Let the barrage begin.

Finally a voice in the wilderness...I guess most folks just don't get it. This is not a smokers issue this is a hard working american issue...I guess most folks are all right with having the police stop an innocent civilian minding their own buisiness in their own car. I have certainly learned from this thread that folks are ok with the government raising their children for them. The fact that this bothers ME is irrelevent because I am in the minority(not only here) and the days of the people ruling this country are over.

The dangers of second hand smoke are greatly exaggerated.

Do you support some laws or do you consider them all gov't interference?

So you smoke in the car while your children are present? Awesome. Do you buckle them in a car seat, that's a law too.

I love how smoker's pretend that tobacco is the only harmful substance that the gov't regulates. Who knows what else would be added to those cigarettes if the evil oppressive gov't didn't regulate the industry...

If a person has the common sense to not smoke in an enclosed environment around children, then I really don't see the problem with a law like this.

I was constantly around second hand smoke when I grew up, I hardly ever got sick. People today are pussies and blame smoking for everything.

Statistically second hand smoke is harmless.

Statistically, second-hand smoke was harmless to you... Just because you were in the percentage that wasn't affected doesn't mean others weren't affected either. I've never seen a stat that said it affected 100% of people exposed. If that were the case, then you're argument would have merit.

Personally, I wouldn't want to take the future gamble that my child would end up in the affected percentile...

I could be way, way off on this one, but isn't that exactly what the disclaimer say's on the cigarettle packet?
