And then that would be the end of our economy. Do you have any idea how many people would not be able to get to work?

If there were a law against commuting people would have to live close enough to drive, or bicycle to work. It is worth it if our children are saved.

Come again?!? I can't figure out what you are trying to say. On one hand you say we need to outlaw cars but in this post you say people would have to drive. That isn't the only thing in the post that I don't understand though.

laws against commuting? Who's going to do all the minimum wage jobs in NYC and big cities where someone on minimum wage sure as hell can't afford to live?

It is so simple to avoid smoke in the USA. The only place you will run into heavy smoke (unless you are looking for it) is a bar. So just move your business to a non-smoking bar.

As for micro-managing parents, I think it's a bad idea to start legislating how to raise a child. But let's start w/ banning all fast food for children - a problem that is far more immediate.
There's such things as non smoking bars? Sorry, but, before it was mandated no smoking in a workplace, these "no smoking bars" you speak of were non-existant.

BTW, I am not the one polluting the air in the place, so why should I be the one to have to look for a new place?

Actually its the car makers along with the gov who are to blame for fossil fuel emmissions....it is common knowledge that these two corporations have stopped the influx of new technology that would bring clean/environmently safe transportation to the masses...

1. Why should the gov tell me what I can do in my own car before they clean their own house? Pollution from cars, big buisiness, it seems disingenuos(sp)? To go after a citizen for this when our own government puts more sh*t in the air everyday then we could imagine. I do not condone people who smoke around children I would like a little balance is all....why does the gov target the people first? They say they "care" about the health of our children...I doubt it....I will bet some folks here who are much smarter then me could come up with a million ways our gov hurts our childrens health way more than a we ever could...
No one is telling you that you can't smoke in your car. You just can't smoke while your children are in the car with you.

Unfortunately, you can't stop these idiots from having kids, so the least we can do is protect the kids from these deadbeat parents who feel smoking a cigarette is more important than their children's lives.

It's a shame that the government has to step in on an issue like this, but if there were no issue, if these ignorant parents would put their children's lives ahead of their nicotine fix, there would be no need for the government to protect children from their own parents.

Remember, this legislation is about protecting children, not taking away the right to smoke in cars.
