I find it odd that the same company that just paid out 83 million in bonuses also has to cut the budget and let go of two $60K/year reporters because of their dumb idea of having a news department in the first place.

I hope they got a good severence...they'll need it!
Got rid of 60K a year? I guess Ralph can cash that bonus check now!

The news used to be great. It all went downhill when Howard said things where off limits! It's very sad if they are both gone but I could've sworn I just heard George Flowers this morning (although he sounds just like Ralph Howard)...Not Penny, though.

The bonus was paid out in stock, not cash. This would not affect the budget. That equity (partial ownership of the company) is then traded over the exchanges for cash. However, Sirius does not lose cash unless it buys back the outstanding stock. In that case, equity is returned back to the company.

I'll miss Penny I thought she added to the show with her tantrums and stuff. Especially that one time she broke a trophy or something like that and then stormed out of the studio, lol.

I'll miss Penny, too, and I think it sucks if Howard doesn't say anything (might not even know for sure). I wish they would've gotten rid of Shuli, who has to make everything about him!

I stand corrected...my apologies.

It just seems like a drop in the bucket, but what do I know.

Also, the stock bonus was part of his original contract, to be paid if they reached certain subscriber numbers by that time. BTW, they passed the mark needed for the bonus by 2 million subscribers...

They should just cut the interns pay altogether...

Yeah, I'm sure they are paying those people so much money for those shows. They are lucky if they make Riley's level of pay.

Shuli's sex tape may have saved his job.

This is sad news. Poor Penny, I bet she's crushed. I think she's gonna have a very difficult time finding another job, too.

And they killed the noon and 6 news in favor of the updates during commercials. Which is usually the same story repeated at every break.

Considering what a suck ass mutt is, I wouldn't doubt that he's doing the show for free.

Hopefully, this will be the next step in removing the "news" altogether - it really is just a time-waster now, giving them something else to play to make the breaks longer. But, the stories are ridiculous, irrelevant, and unnecessary. It was a fun joke for a while (maybe the first month or so on Sirius) but it's time to end the news.

Mutt apparently has a really good job, so he's probably doing it for very little or maybe even free. Steve the intern gets paid since he's not an intern anymore but the rest of thoe kids don't get anything. They're the cheapest shows on the channels.

It's about time Penny was canned. She's such an annoying phoney. They need to get rid of Lisa G and Shuli. Langford's all they need.

I think George works directly for Sirius now. Seems I remember after he stopped doing on air stuff I read something about him working for the whole company...could be wrong...

Couldn't have said it better! Mutt is highly annoying. The show might be better with a different host. The guy who hosts the intern show is Mutt Jr.

Penny had a lot of entertainment value, so it's surprising they would let her go unless the budget crunch is really severe. The news team will be slashed to nothing before long. They got rid of the news director sometime back.

Shuli should be sweating.
