I'm obviously a moron because I get a message about my attacks and then went and posted another one. I missed you guys.

They will eventually merge for the simple reason that noone wants dead satelites floating around in space... there is too much money up there to just let it go.

I doubt they would raise prices though.
The price is set because that is what they believe the average person is willing to pay for Sat radio.

I don't know what I'm talking about since I know so little of XM, too.

Ok, but don't you think the merger will ulitmately weaken at least the musical programming by adding commerial filled stations? I think that will be the biggest drawback since it's the one thing that seems to draw so many people to both. The only thing I want from XM would be baseball and maybe the African American talk station (they have OutQ on Sirius but no black talk?...BTW, I'm sure the prudes at XM will have nothing to do with gays, so out goes OutQ for sure).
Having negative Earning's per share is not good, but XM's is worse.

Ok, Howard? Twice the content? So they will have multple 80s stations? That's just retarted. Becuase of this thread, I finally decided to do a free preview of XM....and their music choices are piss poor. It's not just that they gravitate toward the kind of rare and obscure. It's just their choices aren't very good and don't realy mesh with the genres either! They will not have twice as much content....many scarfices will be made!

You may be right....on the other hand xm has what...7mil or so subs? Clearly they enjoy the content and all that xm offers. My point simply was if you put siri/xm together they could make it into an ala carte' type service and offer more content for an added price..

If you do some satellite radio math I think you'll find that the 13 million subs divided into the U.S. population will come out with the answer that the 'average person' isn't willing to pay for satellite radio.

I have idea how it would work but I for one thought it was bullshit that Sirius had better music....well, after sampling XM, I can surely say they do! XM isn't doing anything for me with their music choices. The rock seems very limited (at least the titles available seem very similar in style) while I think Sirius runs the gamut better.

I know there are those who carry both sat services, but I was going to ballpark the numbers from XM(7+) and Sirius(6+) into one. By the time the merger hits(if it does)the 13 million number would be a real safe bet.

One genre of music missing from both services is the 'College Rock', I mean the real college rock, not the generic safe version. The closest thing to that at the moment is Sirius Disorder.

If they merged today, Howard would claim to have 13 million listeners.

I know changes would happen, but I really would not want to see a major over haul. Maybe a XM side and A sirius side, but I'm sure that would be to complicated and expensive!!
