Three years would make it worth someone's while. And even if they do go under, someone will buy them...3 orbiting satellites, one spare.

As for me...buy a new car, NO WAY! I have never loved (or even really cared about) any material possession, not even my house, as much as I love my '02 Chevy Avalanche. I will never, ever sell that truck. Upgrade the Jensen, yes. So I agree the life-time isn't good for me [yet, might be good once I get the PNP].

PS. I know you weren't addressing me specifically, just wanted to show my love for my AV

Boy am I glad I missed the boat now after all. Looks like trouble shipping, trouble receiving, problem units (jensen), possible tivo-like marketing, evasive customer service... i was under the impression things were much better run. no wonder the investor was sniffing around here. I'm going to put my money in a stacker now. Can't wait until they get the bugs ironed out tho. Sounds like it could be fun. Any stacker recommendations for a 96 Passat?

Wow, you surmised all that info from this thread? First of all the Jensen unit was not part of the Friends and Family deal. Those units have always been problematic, but many folks have them with good success so who knows. To my knowledge there is no shipping or receiving problems. The units were being shipped according to what they said they would be. Of course people wanted them sooner rather than later. The Life Time Plan according to one user reminded him of the tivo-like-marking, which does not make it so. I personally wouldn't see this plan working for me because I like to swap equipment out too much. But for someone buying a new vehicle with Sat Radio built in that would probably not swap out equipment anytime soon, this could be a valuable plan. Also, when I contact customer service, they always handle any issues I have in a timely manner. I can't say anything but good about the service I've gotten. The fact is you can't please everyone all the time, because some folks are unreasonable to deal with. However, in all fairness there was one person on the SIRIUS staff handling the Friends and Family deal, so if you just called customer service, they sometimes didn't know what you were talking about. Which only makes sense, since the deal was exclusive through this forum and the individual Sirius employee.

I hope that clears the confusion up.

I'm just not seeing it. The F&F hardware is being shipped as we speak, I don't know of the troubles shipping and receiving that you speak of.

As for TiVo-like marketing, this cannot be further from the truth. Sirius has announced that they will offer a lifetime service subscription, someone made the connection to TiVo...that is the only similarity. The pay up front $399 is not for everyone, but I have a feeling it will be very popular for new car buyers in the luxury market.

You make a claim about evasive customer service, I think this complaint is unfounded. Note that the F&F program was not administered by Sirius, but a representative working with them. I'd love to clean up this claim, as I've found the contacts at Sirius to be friendly and helpful.

Hi guys;

Nope, didn't surmise all from the thread. Some was personal experience (evasive customer service for one, which I experienced personally. Might be from inexperience/lack of training, but never once did the rep volunteer to find out, ask, or even get back with me regarding ordering problems during the time the offer was active. Furthermore, I directly asked the customer service agent to assist and, while polite, the individual was just plain unhelpful and downright evasive/non-committal. A+++ for politeness, but F for knowledge/assistance). The rest I surmised from the thread, all of which appears to stem from customer service/training issues imho? Jensen equipment of course being a seperate but related issue. Growing pains? I was just miffed because I made contacts prior to expiration with no response/assistance. When I followed up, I was told it was too late/should have contacted company earlier kinda thing (which I did, but to no avail via customer service) :-( I'm thinking any reasonable individual would be kinda bummed out at that. Either way, I'm off the thread. Looks like I've kind of made some individuals mad by relaying my customer service experience. Good luck //Deann//

the only concern that i have is that ive talked to several other people and was told they recieved a confirmation email within a day or so of filling out the form, and i have sent a couple of emails about this (i accedentally submitted 2 forms and wanted to make sure i didnt get 2 radios)

i havent heard a peep. If im not going to get the deal, then thats fine, but i would like to know either way, im kinda uncomfy about my credit card out there without atleast a confirmation.

Dean if that is your experience, then that is your expereince no one can dispute that. But as I see it you were trying to do something with Customer Service, that you should have been trying to do via the forum. Instructions for ordering the Friends and Family Deal stated what you needed to do and calling customer service was not one of them. It is important to follow instructions. As I stated earlier, most of those folks in Customer Service may not have even been aware this deal was going on since it was an exclusive via Backstage and the single SIRIUS employee.

Its too bad that you had this experience, but that is NOT typical for customer service. you just threw them a curve ball.

If you don't mind me asking, did you contact Customer Care regarding this Friends & Family offer?

I'm just trying to understand what brought about the issues you are describing.

Please be aware that Sirius did not administer, nor would they have had any information about the offer. I think we were pretty explicit that the deal was advertised on SiriusBackstage only, and processed by a Sirius representation. I hope you understand that they were not being unreasonable by not being able to assist you with this offer. I wish you would have sought advice here. I'm sure we could have addressed your issues.

Man I am so bummed that I missed out on this deal. I just really found out abouty Sirius the other day. I mhave been checking out some of the webstreams I guess I'll have to wait. That is okay I think I want the Kenwood plug and play if they ever show up at Best Buy

wow i am reallly disappointed i was goingt ot order today i got to see the system thisweekend in a local circuit and i liked it now i go to order and it was closed i was really under the impression that this deal was going until the end of the month. well as asked before some circuit cities have this package comes out to like 100 wiht antenna after rebate
