What's missing? Everything was there on mine. If it's the FM modulator, it's really small, and in with the rest of the wiring.

I got mine installed today. Aside from a blown fuse (my fault), everything actually works!!!!

There was an empty slot in the styrofoam in mine. Then I saw the picture of the wireless remote in the manual and assumed it was missing. Then I realized the wireless remote is optional. The only controller you should have is the main lcd unit with the flip open door on the right.

Default F&F Installation Problems

Hey fellas. Sirius newbie here. I installed the F&F hardware and am having problems activating!!! If this needs more attention than a simple explanation then I will move it to the install garage topic, but for now since this is an F&F unit, I'm hoping someone here can help me.

Firstly, after all was hooked up directly to my head unit (no FM mod) I got no sound coming from the preview channel. I tried it with the FM mod.... still silence. I called Sirius, as the display instructed me, and they told me that's normal for Audiovox and to continue with online activation. I continued and when I went to have the unit pinged, it said there was a problem with my ESN. So I called Sirius again. The Sirius guy straightened all that out, activated me, and sent the signal...... it took a while but now I could see the Stream titles...... but no sound and it still said call Sirius. Well, I was still on the line with the guy during all this and he insisted that it was my installation job, I told him the fact was that I am seeing the channels, but they're not sending me music..... even though I could browse the streams, I had no artist or song title..... it still said call Sirius. The guy convinced me that he did everything at his end that he could do and now I have to dig deeper. Until I can see the unit operating correctly and sending me song info, sound or no sound, I am going to insist that my installation is flawless. So what's going on here F&F people???? Please help :\ :\ :\

this is just a guess. Is there an AUX button? on your head unit? What is your head unit?

Sorry I didn't clarify.... Yes it does have AUX inputs.... no "AUX" button tho, it is selected via "source" button.... I have a Pioneer DEH-P5200: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pi...29,518,00.html. I turned on the AUX input. It appears that this input is switchable and is shared with the Front Output (activated when AUX is turned off I presume) but the installation manual does not clarify the AUX input. The other output I have is reserved for the subwoofer and is controlled internally by the HU as well. (BTW, [AUX??/front] is on pigtails and [Sub/non-fading] is flush to housing.) Another issue that has risen is that after testing the inputs with another source (Laptop) I have found that the "AUX" inputs appear to be fixed. The volume is constant (very low) throughout the range and kills the sound at "0"???? If you look in the manual, this HU is capable of operating with an AUX input, but why this input volume wouldn't be controlled by the HU is beyond me. Am I missing some sort of configuration parameter???? Activating the AUX, Sirius or not, hasn't altered my subwoofer output.... Never-the-less, I still cannot hear a peep out of the Sirius and still no song info. WTF???

Thanks for your concern.

Huh, you got me. I was hoping it was something simple. I am not a real tech person. Any Techies on-line tonight?

Try it with the engine off. That's the only way mine will play. I don't know what to do. I'm stumped... And a little pissed.

Jeff and John, wanted to say thanks again for the F&F deal. Planning on finishing the install this weekend. Does anyone know if there will be people working at Sirius this weekend to call for an activation hit??

Thanks
Paul

Ok, never mind that. It is the logjam PIE RCA adaptor that is bad. Dang it...

Got my radio the other day and it's installed - wohoo! I'm very happy with the channel selections (especially the international channel selections like BBC, etc.) not to mention the multiple channel selections by genre. Found out yesterday tho that the lifetime subscription program is not to the subscriber, but to the RADIO after all (shades of TIVO one poster here mentioned previously <another thread?> I believe). I hope my radio lasts - cuz I'm *still* thinking about ordering the lifetime subscription! $399 I think they said...minus the $100-ish I paid makes it less than $299...breakeven point in 3years if the radio holds up? I think so! John - I'm *very* happy, and wouldn't have known about it if you hadn't brought me on board. I've shown several people since having it installed yesterday, and they were all amazed. What a brilliant idea on sirius' part (and your thoughtful inclusion of me in the program on yours - thank you!).

Many wohoo's;

Deann
