Just ordered the audiovox unit from John. He was very cool. He said he is very busy with the friends and family deal. He said the Audiovox unit can change the display color from yellow to orange. I asked him about the plug and play units. He said they would be out within the month. I told him that a best buy salesman had told me that a delphi unit like the xm skyfi unit should be out soon. He agreed and added that the siri delphi plug and play will be out this month and it has a blue backlit display and has even more functionality than the xm skyfi unit. Good to hear!

Would whether or not my radio has either of those inputs be in my manual?

using the FM modulator, how is the sound quality?

I have an eclipse Head Unit and would prefer the best sound quality possible. Is there a way to circumvent going through FM? thanks!

The sound quality is better than FM, but it is about 30% less than if you would have the tuner directly connected to the headunit.

If your Eclipse has AUX RCA inputs, then just connect the tuner to those. It will sound awesome if you use the RCA ports rather than the FM mod!

Sguthrie,
What year is your Grand Prix? This will likely work. The adapter will allow you to bypass using an FM modulator. It would connect to the port on the back of your factory radio.

If it supports a CD changer, then that adapter will work with Sirius.

DABSter, No I didnt end up getting the Panasonic, I got the Audiovox. I hope the unit works well because the F&F plan is such a great deal. Also, thanks to John for offering this deal to us. I also talked with John on the phone and he was very helpful. I have emailed the sales dept at JP Customs about the GM9-AUX adapter to see if and when the will offer it for my 03 s-10 and also if it works on my radio with the internal 1 disk cd and internal tape. I do not have a slave unit or aux so I dont know if this will work with my unit. But thanks to every one for the help on hear for trying to figure this out.

The tuners use Gen1 chips, but the funcationality and sound is the same no matter what version chips you use.

You pay the $12.95 for the first sub and then all others up to 4 subs will be discounted by $2.00 per month.

Default Great timing - have newbie questions

Talk about "timing". I decided to buy a new cd deck for my go-cart, a 1996 Mazda Protege, so I stopped by Best Buy. I was looking at the various CD decks and noticed that a satellite radio-ready decks were just a few more $$$. I picked up the Sirius brochure (a buddy of mine has Sirius) and thought I'd investigate it. Then I came across this F&F promotion. So here are my question:

If I bought a satellite ready cd deck from Best Buy, how will this F&F promotion affect me? I'm assuming I need all of this equipment? I would still need to have someone install it?

I also read in this forum that I could keep my original radio, subscribe to the F&F and take the equipment to Best Buy, Circuit City, and pay them to install it.

So I guess my question is whether I should buy a satellite-ready deck from Best Buy, Circuit City or not.

Ok I am almost ready to order this kit but I have a few questions first. My car is a 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora and I have the bose system in it from the factory. I would like to add the audiiovox reciever to it. I know this can be done with the FM mod but I would rather use the adapter for 70 dollars and go with a hard wired setup. Now I know the car had a 12 disk cd changer available as an option which I didnt get when i got the car. So I would assume the din plug that would be used in the trunk for the cd changer is there whether or not you take the changer option? If this is the case I can use the adapter and avoid using the fm mod route. Am I correct in this assumption? How can I find out if this is thecase or not? Anyone?
Thanks.

Oh and 1 more thing. I called bestbuy to ask them my questions as you can read above and the guy wasn't sure. He also said that the installation would run approx 70 bucks plus the cost of additional parts. He said they use additional parts to add into the wiring harness to make it easier when you want to remove the sat setup later on. That would run approx another 50 bucks. Thats alot of extra money when I was under the assumption the kit we get here contains all you need for the install. Ideas?
