SIRIUS is once again offering the Friends and Family Program. This
program allows participants to receive hardware absolutely free (select
options below), while you cover installation and subscription costs.
Orders for hardware must be placed between 5/21/03 and 6/16/03. Please
note that hardware quantities are limited. If the first choice for
hardware is not available, participants will be given the option of
alternate hardware (if available). The following hardware is readily
available for Friends and Family participants and all equipment choices
can be viewed at www.sirius.com

- Audiovox FM Modulated kit with antenna (model SRSIR-001FM)
- Jensen FM Modulated kit with antenna (model SSR2000 FM)

If the participant installs and activates their unit prior to 6/16/03,
any programming package can be selected. After 6/16/03, SIRIUS will
activate an annual subscription fee of $142.45 to the credit card
indicated at the time the product order was taken. The regular
activation fee ($15 if activation done through the Call Center, $5 if
activated over consumer Web site) applies to participants along with any
applicable taxes.

In order to participate, please follow the process outlined below:

- Participant calls 1-800-466-9742 to place hardware order Monday -
Saturday, during the hours of 10am - 7pm EST or by faxing orders to
1-877-855-1233.

- Participants will be asked to provide address (both shipping and
billing), phone, type of hardware requested, credit card information and
referring employee's name (Elvia in Customer Care). Hardware will be shipped within 72 hours to
the shipping address indicated at order.

- Installation needs to be arranged by the participant at a local
retailer.
After the unit is installed, participants call the SIRIUS Customer Care
center at 888-539-7474 to activate programming.

If you are interested in this program, please place your order as soon
as possible as quantities are limited!

Looks like Sirius is trying to get rid of the Audiovoxs. But I would recommend that system to anyone over the Jensen.

This program is meant for Sirius workers, their friends, and their family. Not the whole damn internet community.

Sirius has offered this in the past online, back in December, and in March.

In fact, managment at Sirius allowed our site to offer the previous Friends & Family deal exclusively.
So I don't think they mind. This is a great way for Sirius to get subscribers who were afraid of hardware costs.

Having more subs benefits us all. If it's a special thing, it shouldn't be offered to customers. Or, it should be mentioned to the customer that an exception is being made and not to advertise it. I found out by calling customer service and asking about it. Info doesn't get much more public than that. At no time was I told it was supposed to be a special thing or asked not to let people know about it. I know of 3 people that have signed up because I told them about this deal online. I see that as a good thing, more money for Sirius.

If it somehow "takes away" from employees, perhaps Sirius should have a different special employee program set up that's kept quiet or something. Perhaps requiring the employee to set it up personally so it can't be sent out to everyone on the net.

Dude you should be happy, since the more subs Sirius gets the longer you are guaranteed a job. Quite complaining and say thanks to all of us for helping to bring sirius to the mainstream.

My LORD, I hope you aren't really a SIRIUS representative with that attitude. Your post was totally unecessary, since we know now that this deal has now been offered twice and is supposively going on again. I agree with the other posters the more subscribers the better for us all, especially YOU if you are in fact a SIRIUS representative.

He is a Sirius employee, his IP goes back to NYC on the Verizon network.
I just wonder why it makes him upset to see us trying very hard (voluntarily mnd you) to get customers for his company.

With employees like that, who needs enemies. Did you skip out on marketing 101?

If Sirius corporate really wanted this to be for F&F of employees only...they wouldn't have let the last three offers leak.

My little sister wants it for her car but you can't put this on the month to month sub? Oh well i'll just pay for the stuff cuz it will be cheaper than paying the full year at one time.

You can pay monthly, quarterly, or annually.

You just have to activate it before the date specified or it will be activated for you on an annual term.

Default I am still debating...

but I really like what I see. I just think that installation requires alot of disassembly and reassembly. I have a toyota tacoma 2001. Is there a need for all the accessories if I get a sirius ready radio instead of the plug in? Can they remove my current antenna and use the truck/rv antenna? Can I listen to regular radio too? Any help will be appreciated.

Actually, there isn't alot of work to do to install one. Maybe 2 hours at the most you'll need out of your day to install it. The rest can be used to listen to all the great streams available!

If you purchase a new radio that is Sirius-Ready, then you will just need a tuner from the brand of radio you get (Clarion, Kenwood, Panasonic). You will also need a Sirius satellite radio antenna (regular antennas can NOT be used). Crutchfield has a special right now on one of the Kenwood MP3/Sirius capable radios where you get the Sirius tuner for free as long as you purchase the radio and antenna. (Makes it about $330) But it saves you $160 on the Kenwood tuner that your getting for free! The deal is on the main page of Crutchfield.com

Also, yes, you can keep listening to AM/FM is you so desire.
If you get a radio under this promotion, then whenever you turn it off, it lets AM/FM pass-thru. Seperate, Sirius-Ready radios just have to be turned to AM/FM to receive them, it just shuts the Sirius tuner off. For instance, the Kenwoods have a "SRC" (Source) button which switches between Tuner, Sirius, or CD.
