I think the new Coffee House (accoustic mix) will be a mixture of XM's Hear Music & The Loft.

I would like Sirius to cut down on the classic rock offerings though, and give another unpresented genre a chance. We have Buzzshaw, Classic Rewind, Classic Vinyl, The Vault, and some sprinkled on The Spectrum, The Bridge, and of course, The 70's. Personally I would cut Buzzshaw but I know it has many fans. Maybe add Hard Rock daily show on Classic Vinyl/Rewind to compliment Buzz fans.

This would make room for either a classic R&B channel or a movie soundtrack channel.

SIRIUS did make some positive changes thanks to input from all of us. Spa 73 (aka Soundscapes) is definitely one. As is Revolution. You could even say losing the 3 separate Weather Channel's is a plus.

I'm also looking forward to SUPER SHUFFLE, which will provide the first "Jack FM" format for satellite radio.

And the new lineup make a LOT more sense to me. The genres are separated much neater this time around.

So give the changes time, just like we have before. There is so much to enjoy. And many new things to experience. Afterall, if SIRIUS never made changes, people would be even more disappointed. Trust me.

I'd put the following into LIFESTYLE (to start):

Elvis
Margaritaville
Faction
Yeah I think a Lifestyle category would not be such a bad idea. But I'm guessing Sirius doesn't want to mirror XM's line up.

But I would definately add:
Coffee House
Sirius Disorder
Radio Margaritaville
Elvis

Not Faction though, since it's not the "adult" mix most people would expect from a lifestyle category. I would cut out the Rap from Faction though and make it 100% Punk.

I'm disgusted Remix is deleted and Boombox is staying.

Disgusted.

Too much adult soft music. I understand people like the new age and coffee house type stuff. There is a demand for new age. But New Age and Chill? They could've merged Chill with the new Spa and just had a Chill type show on it. Saving Remix, which is a way better channel.

I'm also not too thrilled about this Shuffle. It spells "Copycat" to me. Was it really necessary to follow the FM Jack formats? I'm also stunned they deleted Wax. Thats one less Hip Hop channel. Shade 45 is their flagship channel but 24/7 mixing on Wax is like icing on the cake for the huge potential audience that listens to this music... But no..

I've read all 9 pages of this thread and I can't believe that nobody has mentioned that Horizons 99 is missing in action on that new lineup as well. I guess when the Stones leave on Sept. 29 we will have no more 99.

NO MORE HORIZONS :\

Default Remix Is Going

I understand that life is full of changes. But, from a Music Programers perspective, the dropping of Remix from the Dance selections seems like a really bad move. BoomBox and Chill are a little more in the niche if you ask me. And would be more of the target for dismissal.

Now if the take some of the mixes from Remix and put them on the Beat and Boombox, that might just work. And add a weekend Disco and Classic Dance Show on Strobe, you might have something there.

Even tho I didnt get my precious funk (grrrr), I like the changes, additions, and overhaul/realignment to the categories for the most part. There is far more positive than negative in it for me. Ahhhh cant wait til 2006!!!

ONE word Garbage. Lets add 2 christian stations 2 Howard Stern stations A convicted criminal station and a Jack FM crap station along with lousy coffee house music and kill the best dance station ever. This is the worst decision Sirius has ever mad in the 2 years I have been a subscriber.

That just goes to show you that SIRIUS does not listen to it's customers. Yeah, they just had to fulfill the need of the LEGIONS of fans that wanted channels like Revolution, Censored Alt Nation, and Radio Korea.

Positives:

+ NEW AGE!
+ The Strobe expands to something a bit more useful

Negatives:

- No! Not Wax! Take Boombox!
- Minus 2 hip-hop/R&B channels plus The Express so long ago and no changes to the excess of Rock? I know this may open a can of worms, but they do realize how bad this looks to the black demographic, right?
- Gosh-darnit. Nothing to replace Air America yet the moral values crowd get two right-wing talk stations and Christian talk.

Not Sure:

? Sirius Shuffle, er, what?

Because of what you said, XM has it.

That's why there's no gay talk on XM. Because Sirius has it. Both niches (not that gay people or black people are small minorities, but only a minority of that minority would listen to a talk station all about the subject) are served their full extent on one service, so playing me-too wouldn't draw in as many subscribers as doing something new.
