I live in Tampa. I didn't listen to him much because he was too full of himself to be funny. From what I did listen to he tries to be a mix between redneck white trash and a wigger. Yes, that is an oxymoronic combination, but that's the best way I know how to describe him. In Tampa, Bubba had a bumper that said "we're number one in the trailer parks" or something like that. I agree. That's where his niche was, trailer parks and teenagers.

I am not happy he's on Sirius, because it makes the Stern station more of a garbage bin for shock jocks. Stern, in my opinion, is more than just a shock jock. His show appeals to stock brokers, politicians, and others that may not listen to just a shock jock.

I am sure Bubba will appeal to some, but I think he dilutes the content.

I'm an XM subscriber, but Bubba on Sirius is the last push I needed to pick up a Sirius unit too. I'm hooked on O&A, so I'll be keeping XM too. I've been on the fence about Sirius for awhile, I like there music selection better than XM, but that was it, and I can't stand Howie, so that wasn't even slighlty a consideration for me.

I think XM not grabbing Bubba was a mistake, I discovered him on XM, and he already had a listening base that was familiar with him. I doubt Bubba is a big enough draw to get a lot of subscribers to jump over to Sirius, but they will get a few.

Bubba is definately a hypocrite though, he used to bash Stern ruthlessly on his show, and now he's going to be kissing his ass! I guess people will do anything for a buck though...

Stern just had Bubba and his producer in the studio live for the last hour. I was really happy that he's not a lame ass. He impressed me with his on air personality. Right away he attacked Sal for callin him a pussy. They really went at it for a while. Then Bubba told the story how he was arrested and sent to prison for a day and sent on trial for killing a wild boar on the air cutting off his balls before he was killed and then BBQing him. That's kinda intense LOL! Anyway Ronnie the Limo Driver aka Ronnie Mund aka ScoresMan923@aol.com (don't worry he gives out his email addy, I didn't blow up his spot) invited Bubba his producer and some NASCAR dude down to SCORES tonight for some fun. If you're not in the NY area Scores is the premier strip joint in NYC and Ronnie works for them. Well that's the recap. Oh yea Bubba said in his Sirius studio he is having a hot tub a stripper pole and some sexual torture machine installed forcing stern to compete with that and announced he's gonna put nails on the robo spanker LMAO!

Great show this morning. Hope you enjoyed the recap

Default Bubba on Stern

Like I said, I"m not trying to blow smoke up Bubba's show or by using the nick name "bubba". I've had that nick since I was a kid. In a prior post I said Bubba and his crew have the ability to run with a subject like no others, he jumped right on Sal and didn't back down. His show will be a great asset to Sirius and howard's channel and btw, if you guys noticed howards mood, he seems to really like Bubba and if any of you listen to howard you can tell when he's just doing his job and when he truely enjoys an interview. The old guy "Ned" does some of the funiest prank phone calls and parody songs, "Manson" actually has a great voice and does great parady work and "Brent" is very intelligant and comes across as being a Bubba kiss ass but does a great job.

Take a look at some of the bubba threads on XM411. Before September, they loved him, wished he was back on XM, an incredible asset. Now (some of the same people posting) he's washed up, no good and unfunny.

By the way... You can tell which group of people are more confident in their choice of satellite radios just by reading both the fan forums. It's astonshing almost EVERY thread over at 411 turns into a SIRI bash fest. They refer to XM as "us" and critical speech about XM is labeled as troll fodder and ruthelessly put down (if not down right deleted).

I really enjoyed the bubba interview on stern this morning. He sounds better than most jocks I've heard--granted living in NY where stern has dominated for years, I don't have exposure to many shows. Well just those idiots at z100, but he does sounds like a good radio personality.

SBS ---> please don't turn into a sirius propaganda machine, and I'll always love you.

That is one of the biggest reasons I post here, and read here. It is NEVER about XM vs SIRIUS. It's about Satellite vs FM.

And even still, it's NEVER bashing. It is intelligent conversations discussing peoples opinions based on one thing or another.

I love XM and I love Sirius. I have both. I'm happy.

And I'm looking forward to BUBBA!!!!

(I feel like a kid everytime I say that!)

To be fair, the same thing happens with both services:

It's really funny because before Howard made up his mind about what service he was going to, all the XM boards were so estatic because they thought he was coming to XM. But when he announced his contract with SIRIUS, many XM folks started the whole "he sucks" discussions.

And it was the same case with Opie and Anthony. There was also a time that many SIRIUS subscribers believed they were coming to SIRIUS and expressed how excited they were. But, when they announced XM as their new home, the same negative comments arose.

People really need to get a life.

Great post Chad. I like Opie and Anthony. I don't care for XM as a service much since they canceled Liquid Metal, but since I switched to Sirius, I don't all of a sudden not like Opie and Anthony. I'm looking forward to Bubba's show. Oh, by the way, Manson IS Ned.

You got that right.

Another example: The XM fanboys were trashing the S50 mercilessly when Sirius first announced it, saying how stupid Sirius was to be offering a unit that doesn't pick up live content on the go. They claimed it "made no sense".

Then lo and behold, as soon as XM announced the Samsung neXus (which also doesn't receive live content on the go) a short time later--you could have heard a pin drop on the XM fanboy boards.

Now you hear virtually no criticism of "no live content on the go" units coming from the XM fanboys.

P.S.--I'm no XM basher, in fact I've been an XM subscriber for a while now. But like you, I've noticed that they do an awful lot of unnecessary Sirius bashing at some of the XM forums.

Default Manson is Ned??

I don't get where your going with that, I've met both of them at differant bubba appearances. Manson is a early to mid 40's due who had long hair, Ned is an early 60's old codger. BTW, I've had XM for a while, I was one of the first 500,000 subscribers, back when Bubba, the monsters, shannon burke and philips file were on. I've been kinda disappointed lately with some of ther moves, taking off part of philips and the entire shannon burke show and I"m going to let my subscription run out and in the mean time pick up sirius. I just can't seem to get into Ope and Anthony, they've had maybe in my opinion 5 or so interesting shows out of the probably 100 shows I've part or entirely listened to.

Waiting for Bubba to finially re-broadcast

That guy who played Ned at the personal appearances is Manson's father. Manson does the voice of Ned on the show. It's one of those things that you're not supposed to know, but everybody knows anyway. Kinda like the gag on that show Home Improvement where you never see the neighbor's face, but everybody knows what he looks like anyway.

You might want to rethink that. The XM unit was announced BEFORE the Sirius S50. The Samsung was announced around the end of July, no pictures but there was a press release. The S50 was announced the end of August. Trust me, not everyone is loving it on the XM boards. Some people don't mind no live listening but a lot of people are upset it's not a 2Go unit. See, when you generalize and start calling XM supporters as "fanboys" you'll end up being proved wrong. I'm sure there are "fanboys" over here too. Don't think this board is so righteous to be above that. There's XM bashing here too. And disinformation too apparently.....

I don't have to rethink squat.

I'm an XM subscriber. I'm registered on a couple XM boards. There is WAY MORE Sirius bashing on the XM sites than vice versa. And there are probably ten XM fanboys on those sites for every one Sirius fanboy at this site.

And I never said all or most XM supporters are fanboys, so I didn't "generalize" anything. You're clearly the one jumping to conclusions.

The only one spreading disinformation is yourself.

I'll have to agree. I also have both services (though I've always preferred Sirius), and I'm registered here and also over at XM411 and XMFan. While I don't post much on the XM boards, I do read them some, and the amount of Sirius bashing is far greater there than the XM bashing here on Backstage. I've given up on posting much over at XM411, because as you say, the minute you mention anything about Sirius at all, you are shouted down immediately. That doesn't really happen that much here. I don't get it either. I am glad both services are around, and there are things I like on both. I prefer Sirius overall and their programming is more suited to my tastes, but I'm very happy some prefer XM and that's great. I don't see the need for bashing each other, because if one of the companies fail, it's going to be bad news for both. Competition is what is driving the new channel additions, new personalities being hired, etc. If one goes away, the other will certainly back off on things like this. So lets be glad both are around.
