Not exactly. XM did release a PR on the neXus, but there's been no announcement on the secret room Dell player. As far as anyone knows, it's not going to happen.

I agree that the initial press releases on the S50 were confusing and therefore disappointing. In fact, at first I was turned off and started looking at the Pioneer myfi unit. But then I re-read the S50 releases and thought about it. 50 hours of music to listen to in my office will get me through the work week. And as far as live reception, I don't think their ads are deceptive at all. Look closely:

That says it all. So I have to buy a car dock for trips. Big deal.

Sirius is just taking ALL of the heat for the sudden epiphany ofthe technical limitations of satellite radio - mainly - you cant lsiten indoors, and small portable units get flakey reception even outdoors. Well duh. That's industry wide. This is their solution. I'm quickly warming to it. Until the day they can build a tiny receiver powerful enough to capture signals indoors, this will do.

I think more and more will come to the same conclusion but it takes time to educate the consumer since this is a new product category.

I believe the S50 comes with the car dock. The home dock is optional.

The exact same thing that I've been saying since the S50 was first announced. It will get me through an entire week at work without having to reload content, and I won't miss any music because of reception problems.

Agreed.

I was a little disappointed the first day it was announced, but after giving it some more thought, I also have quickly warmed to it.

There isn't a live portable on the market that will pick up a decent signal in the building I work at.

So the S50 is a blessing.

It took me a lot longer to come around than you and in fact I remember you going back and fourth over the issue. But after using the XM Pioneer Airware for a few months, I had to come around to your point of view. Even with the added headphone/antenna setup and ClipiX antenna I still have many, many areas I simply can't get reception with it. I now feel Sirius did the right thing with the S50. I still wish it offered live reception for when I am in areas that it would pick it up, but I can certainly live with this.

The S50 looks awesome, but I won't be getting one until they drop it down to the $200 price range - including a home dock. Right now, I'm doing my own "poor man's" version of the S50 by running a PnP into my PC and recording MP3s for my MP3 player. I think that the concept of recording content for use while it is out of the dock is the best way to deal with the impratical nature of a portable satellite radio "walkman". The S50 is a really great looking piece of hardware and is definately a step in the right direction in the search for a portable device.

In order for it to offer live reception, they would have had to make it quite a bit larger. As you well know, the S50 is intended to help Sirius crack the MP3 market. With MP3 players on the market that are small enough to fit on a keychain, an S50 the size of the AirWare would've gone over like a fart in church.
