When you lose your favorite channel to something you dont like or listen to, it does make you upset. ALl you hard rock , rap, dance and country fanatics- think about if they canned your #1 channel for 3 months, would you be a bit pissed off? And where does it say the Bridge is even coming back after 3 months? Im sure they will go 24/7 with the next artist flavor of the month by then.

Amen, brother.

For those who are unable to cope with change, which is inevitable in virtually every human endeavor--I suggest Yahoo Music and a compatible MP3 player.

I think if we were promised for sure that it would only run for 3 months then we'd be a bit more reassured. The problem is, they said "Rolling Stones Radio" would be over at the end of Sept. and it continues to go on to this day. Many of us aren't happy about that and feel they will probably lie the same way about the Springsteen channel's ending date.
Personally, I wouldn't be so opposed to this kind of thing, if they would just create one channel and dedicate it to featured artists. But taking over regularly programmed channels for it is absurd.

Sirius has definately gone the way of marketing over music. Tossing The Bridge to add a third single artist stream smells of pure marketing. Short-term buzz for long-term loss.

I remember when I first joined Sirius years ago. The Sirius today is a much different animal, arguably much closer to commercial radio in concept. I don't mind Bruce, but 24 hours a day of him is just plain aweful compared to something like The Bridge. (Has anyone considered the female angle -- The Bridge is more female listener orientated than some other steams).

Our local FM is actually improving with wider playlists and HD Radio available for six stations. Clear Channel has even cut back on commercial breaks.

With Sirius paying so much to acquire subscribes (over double what XM does), I am amazed they continue to mess with their base.

The base? The 500,000 subscriber base? they have to aim to get millions of subscribers. I'm sure they appreciate the base to a certain degree, but they are trying to attract millions of people. I was part of that too "years ago", but I don't think they could make money ---> stay in business with only the 500,000 loyal die hards. If they can gain 50 subscribers to lose 5 they will do that.

I love Springsteen and will definitely love this channel. I guess i'm in the minority :\

You aren't in the minority, people are just more willing to complain than praise.

Not true for me. I've done both here. I remain firm that committing multiple channels to single artists is silly. Tossing a popular channel for someone like Springsteen just doesn't make sense. But it is the XMas season and Sirius wants to sell subs.

I would hear a daily showcase of a particular artist or group rather than an entire channel showcasing one artist/group for months at a time which WILL get tired quickly.

That is what I am screaming. This taking over channels for this nonsense is already getting old. Nothing like continuing to piss off subscribers.

I am not in favor of losing The Bridge for the Bruce Springsteen channel either. I willadmit it is a good idea to have an artist of the month channel but to just randomly remove a channel for it is just plan stupid if you aks me. The really should dedicate a channel for this artist of month channels.

I think somebody in programming thinks that because Howard is coming they can screw around with the channels and think that we wont care because as long as we have Howard nothing else matters. That kind of thinking is SO wrong.

I've been listening to the channel throughout the day. They had a good interview with the Boss on. I would however not like it if the channel was there forever, instead of just this spand of time. If Bruce wants a channel after the end of Jan., give it to him, but give back the Bridge too!

Thanks. I agree. Nothing wrong with the Boss, but after 3months it will grow old. Bringingback the Bridge will be a good thing.

It makes plenty of sense.

With the release of their first studio album in eight years, and currently in the middle of a highly successful North American tour, the Stones are once again big news in the music and mainstream media. Their deal with the Stones gives Sirius valuable publicity with Stones fans, old and young alike.

Look for Sirius to drop the Stones channel about the time the current tour ends. Until then, they will wisely continue to "ride the wave" while the Stones are still in the public limelight.

As for Springsteen, he has a three CD box set coming out to commemorate the 30th anniversary of "Born to Run". He is also currently touring the East Coast, as well as a few gigs as far west as places like Minneapolis.

Because of this recent surge of interest in Springsteen, Sirius wisely chose to jump on the Springsteen bandwagon for a few months. Their deal with Springsteen has gotten a lot of publicity in not just the music media, but the mainstream media also.

When his tour ends and interest in his new box set wanes, Sirius will drop his channel.

It's all about getting publicity and name recognition. And it's obvious Sirius knows more about that than their critics.
