Default SIRIUS Satellite Radio to Launch 'E Street Radio'

[img=right:6393701762]http://www.siriusbackstage.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=782[/img:6393701762]"Sirius Satellite Radio plans to announce today the launch of an around-the-clock Bruce Springsteen channel.

The channel, to be called E Street Radio, will debut Nov. 1 - about two weeks before the release of a highly-anticipated anniversary box set of the album "Born to Run."

The Sirius channel comes following a blockbuster new record deal Springsteen recently signed with SonyBMG's Columbia Records label — the details of which were first reported in The Post."

This should be cool if it's a temporary channel. Bruce has a huge catalog, and it will be nice to hear a lot of the deeper songs get played, much like the deep Stones songs that are getting played on the Rolling Stones channel.

Maybe this will also mark the end of Rolling Stones radio, and this will be the replacement. Guess we'll find out when the official press release comes out.

It'll be cool for about a week. After that, forget it. I never was a big Springsteen fan.

Springsteen is OK but i just hope this is not something a channel has to be axed for.

SIRIUS Satellite Radio to Launch 'E Street Radio'

World's First 24/7 Bruce Springsteen Music Channel Exclusive
SIRIUS channel launches Nov. 1 and features rare tracks, special
programs and exclusive Bruce Springsteen interview with Dave
Marsh

NEW YORK, Oct 25, 2005 -- SIRIUS Satellite Radio will break new
ground and delight fans of Bruce Springsteen across the U.S. when it
launches E Street Radio, its exclusive new commercial-free channel
devoted to the music of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, on
Tuesday, November 1.

E Street Radio on SIRIUS coincides with the 30th anniversary of the
release of Springsteen's album Born To Run, which is being remastered
and reissued for release on Columbia Records on November 15.

In addition to rarities such as recordings of Bruce Springsteen and the E
Street Band dating from early 1973, E Street Radio will feature
track-by-track album discussions, behind-the-scenes insights, and
conversations with E Street Band members and others associated with
Springsteen throughout his career.

E Street Radio will also feature an exclusive SIRIUS interview with Bruce
Springsteen conducted by Dave Marsh, the author of two books on
Springsteen and host of the weekly SIRIUS program Kick Out The Jams
With Dave Marsh.

"E Street Radio will offer SIRIUS subscribers a unique perspective on 30
years of socially conscious music, and set the background for even more
relevant songs to come in the future," said Scott Greenstein, SIRIUS
President of Entertainment and Sports. "It will be the most comprehensive
presentation ever of Bruce's music and a true inside look at the work and
artistry of an American icon."

E Street Radio is due to run on SIRIUS through January 31, 2006.

SIRIUS, the content leader in radio, is the first to dedicate entire 24-hour,
commercial-free music channels to some of the music world's greatest
artists.

SIRIUS launched Elvis Radio (channel 13), the world's only official, all-Elvis
Presley radio channel broadcasting live from Graceland in Memphis, in
June 2004.

In September 2005, SIRIUS premiered Rolling Stones Radio, devoted to
the music of the Rolling Stones, which featured an exclusive interview with
the band and other unique special programs. SIRIUS is also the exclusive
satellite radio home of Shade 45 (channel 45), the uncut hip-hop channel
co-created with Eminem, and Jimmy Buffett's Radio Margaritaville (channel
31).

"E Street Radio is due to run on SIRIUS through January 31, 2006."

Good, at least it's not permanent.

Let's hope this will replace "Rolling Stones Radio" on Ch. 98. I hope they don't cut another channel for a one artist channel.
I don't mind too much if they just keep the one channel and focus it on a different artist every month or so. I do think the Rolling Stones channel has gone on for a little too long though. Maybe one month or even one week for each artist would make more sense.
Wonder if Channel 98 is going to do this "featured artist" type format permanently now instead of becoming "the Globe"? Should be interesting to see.

Same here... Hey is the Rolling Stones channel still active? If they have artist of the month channels, i could deal with that, but having a permenant fixture channel could get ugly real soon...

i.e. 100 channels = 99 artists (Elvis has two)

I am not sure what Sirius is thinking on these artist channels. I just do not see fans running out and spending a 100 bucks + 12.95 because there favorite artist has a temporary two month channel. If you had very little intrest in Sirius would you go out and spend that kind of money for a couple of months of your favorite artist?

No, but there are people on the edge of buying satalite radio and this may push them over the edge, or it may resolve the issue of XM or Sirius.

Default So will this cut SoulTown or Hot Jamz??

I think this will give Sirius a chance to cut the rest of the R & B lineup. All White all the time will be there new slogan. If they are cutting the globe for this. Plus with the loss of any sense of real R & B channels. With jazz turning into Light FM. Sirius is on the way out in this house. Howard is sorta funny, but for 12.95 a month I see no reason to keep both services. It's on to XM full time unless things change between now and the end of the year.
