No it won't. If anything, Sirius' growth rate is going to slow while XM's increases as sales become more OEM dependent. XM is better situated in the car markets.

Default Take care of us!

I am also happy that Sirius has so many new subscribers, because from what I remember, I loved the product.

But, I have a Mazda3 with a $500 integrated Sirius receiver, so I don't get service anymore because the update last week did something to my system that no one can figure out how to fix.

Don't want to troll, or rain on the parade, but I do want to echo the sentiments mentioned by a few here -

Take care of the current subscribers first.

Yours truly,

Actually, I don't know if it will be next year but more and more car manufacturers in the last 6 months have been installing Sirius rather than XM so if it isn't the exact numbers it will be close. Sirius' rate won't slow it will just pick up based on what it has been doing this year.

Here are some snippets from the NY Times.

DISPLAYING ABSTRACT - XM Satellite Radio Holdings says its radios will be installed in cars made by Hyundai Motor Co for sale in US, while Sirius Satellite Radio says receivers for its service will be included as options on some Range Rovers and Jaguars, made by Ford Motor; XM Radio says Hyundai Motor America will be first automaker to install its radios as standard equipment

DISPLAYING ABSTRACT - Ford Motor will offer Sirius Satellite Radio in more of its cars and trucks and will begin installing satellite radio systems at its factories for first time.

DISPLAYING ABSTRACT - Sirius Satellite Radio says its radio will be installed in 11 DaimlerChrysler vehicle lines for 2005 model year; expects about 550,000 new subscribers by 2006 from agreement

I did include XM but it looks like Sirius is going to be offered in more cars than XM and these articles were from 2004.

This is good news, but does anyone else besides me think they are going to have a hell of time reaching their end of the year goal? WHEW!!! I don't know... this looks like it maybe tough!

I can only assume the expectation is that they will generate lots of subs from the NASCAR switchover crowd this Christmas.

Oh, and the ever powerful self-promotion from Howard too of course!

It will be tight but with those markets and a very aggressive marketing push (which needs to start soon) I think they can get it done. Time will tell.

-There are a lot of Stern Fans who haven't signed up for SIRIUS and they don't have a reason other than they just haven't had the time to do so. They aren't worried about the cost, they are more than willing to get a Stiletto and a year sub, they just haven't yet. They plan on getting SIRIUS, just haven't yet

-Lots of people are Excited about Nascar coming to SIRIUS in 2007

-The Stiletto provides an answer to what many did not have the opportunity to do, which is to listen to SIRIUS on the go. Many people would listen to SIRIUS if they had the right equipment to listen on the Go.

-Since the majority of Subscribers have joined in the past year, this holiday season many of these subs will be looking for gifts for friends and family. Lots will keep SIRIUS in mind.

Nothing like being among potential customers in a mall like that. I had a store in the mall for a couple of Christmas seasons. It was very interesting the folks you run into.

It could be there are many Stern fans laying in wait, I just hope they all go out and buy Sirius and subscribe over the next 3 months.

Post Stern fans yet to come

I wonder why, they haven't come yet and call themselves fans. I think some may want the portable, but not just for Stern. The Stiletto will bring subs on its' own. Stern can hardly reach other, than his own listening audience except Letterman, The Dailey Show, and a few others, He bad mouthed Larry King twice in a little over a month, won't go there. He has to make his show the talk of the commuters and internet crowd and bring new fans and the curious.
Nascar will bring subs as will the new SIRI INTERNET RADIO PLUS subs and upgraded $ 2.99 internet subs will bring more revenue. The Playboy channel can bring many subs if marketed better.
We should make it but it will be challenging, but oems will have a much larger effect than last year, with gas prices getting lower and many more models available with Sirius radios. Lastly if we can keep the churn down with good content and good products.

Even then they'll probably re-up. I thought I heard something about 'no more exclusive sports contracts' but the NHL and Nascar shoots that down.
Where's the NFL going to go? XM has MLB rights through 2015. The only way XM could take the NFL is if they added major channel capacity. The only other way would be putting MLB or NFL games on music channels. That's not likely.

What about all the new business subs that have been signing up as of late. I wonder if they have been counted in Q3 or if they will make it into Q4. I know that many businessess have been signing up in the past 3 months, which could easily account for upwards of 25,000 subs or more. Every little bit helps since we have a nice little goal to reach.

I don't think that XM is anywhere near gettig NFL soon... As others have stated, Sirius has them till the next decade.

IMO Both services paying the absurd prices that they do for SPECTATOR sports is ridiculous.
