On the contrarary: Muzak does not want businesses to use FMOne or Environmental for their business audio purposes--they want businesses to pay a little extra to receive custom audio packages tailored to their businesses, not the 45 generic music channels like FMOne or 7890s.

I'm always glad to see SIRIUS getting more exposure, but something tells me this is going to do nothing but give them yet another excuse to censor even more music channels. Personally, I'd rather rather hear SIRIUS being played in unrestrictive business climates such as adult book stores, sex shops, strip clubs, S&M shops, tattoo parlors, piercing studios, etc. where explicit content would not be frowned upon...because it's always the current subscribers that end up losing in situations such as this. Why you ask? Because it draws in the family crowd which is usually much more apt to express their disconcert for "objectionable" content. Besides, I seriously doubt that the business service accounts for that many subscribers or that hearing "radio-edited" music is going to draw in that many new subscribers anyway. Just my two cents.
Obviously your shops of adult book stores, sex shops, strip clubs, S&M shops, tattoo parlors, piercing studios, etc. are NO Wendy's on the corporate scale. So its a huge business advantage to keep the music and DJ's language content clean on many of its music channels...

Way to go Sirius....

Cool Sirius in stores

I talked my brother in law into sirius and he talked his store manager into sirius. Now there is sirius in 4 McDonalds that had muzak before. He said they are saving about $300 per month. The antennas are a lot bigger than house antennas

Not that I have anything against Wendy's (awesome fries and their burgers are pretty great, too) but it would be cool if more sitdown style restraunts would pick up on Sirius, giving people are real great musical experience while they are eating.

The channels available on business service are already censored.

Did some wendys already have sirius? I know mine had either XM or Sirius. I do live in Dublin (Wendys headquarters) so maybe thats why we get it early. We always get things early from Wendys in Dublin.

Couple things -

The business music channels are the same as what consumers get and that is not going to change. Business customers are just made aware of the unhosted chanels and which are business safe music. Business music needs vary, a Wendys is more restrictive then a Harley repair shop.

That seeker function you can fix by restoring defaults in your options menu. That is a rcvr not Sirius issue so not a concern for businesses.

The commercial antenna is only about 10" high with a small 4" disc on it. Most signal issues are with antenna placement. Your clamshell antenna should work fine for most places.

Umm, AMTC/Sirius is the wrong choice for any business.
All they do is provide a receiver with daypart features, but it otherwise places the very same channels you get on your consumer receiver.

This means you get interruptions, sounders, deejay talk, etc. It's not appropriate for business audio to have anything but continuous music.

XM for Business, Muzak, Music Choice, DMX Music, Playnetwork, are much better (but not cheaper) choices. The only downside is that you need a dish--but the service pays for that as part of your subscription.

Boo to you, Wendys!!

We ate inside our local Dairy Queen last night and wouldn't you believe it... DQ had channel 2, Starlight, playing.

What was even better was the fact we were just listening to Starlight as we entered DQ, so it was like, "Hey that’s strange, this same song was playing on Sirius ch 2." Then we heard the Sirius' channel ID itself as being Starlight.

This is a great business move and great advertisement for Sirius to have its channels play inside these companies.

I disagree with aegrotatio. Its a huge advantage for Sirius to ID its channels, allowing exposure to Sirius Satellite Radio in public restaurants.

Part of the SIRIUS package is the antenna mounted on top of the roof, and there is little to none DJ talk on the business channel lists provided. The Wendy's around here is happy that they're finally getting StarLite to play.

SIRIUS does have way too many liners and bumpers on their hits channels.

It would be a better experience for both subscribers and businesses to cut back on those. It's not critical now that public awareness is higher.

There are planty of chennels that are unhosted, etc. Business music needs vary. Obviously a Harley or car dealership repair shop would use a wider choice then a Wendy's etc. How about a skate shop?

Also, businesses can't play a consumer sub in there business that violates music copyright law. It's like downloading music on your home computer.

(but not cheaper)
Thanks for making another point. Sirius radio is cheaper then others PLUS you own the equipment which is not the case for Muzak, etc.

Hopefully one day Sirius will be able to get the legal stuff done so businesses can get sports, etc that will definitely cause a great jump in business use as well.
