I'm a big fan of holiday music, glad to have a few choices along with the local station that will pay christmas music.

I'm a HUGE supporter of Sirius, but the holiday music is one thing that XM does better...

I wish sirius would offer a Classic era Christmas only. I never want to hear Mariah Carey sing a christmas song....

Here is the XM lineup..:

HOLLY - XM 103

Contemporary holiday hits are sprinkled in with more traditional favorites. Listen for selections by Mannheim Steamroller, Bruce Springsteen, and the Carpenters while singer/songwriter and host Jim Brickman shares his "Words of Wisdom."

HOLIDAY TRADITIONS - XM 104

Traditional recordings from the '40s through the '60s will keep you swinging through the holidays. Crooners like Bing Crosby, Andy Wlliams, Ray Conniff, and Nat "King" Cole welcome the season with grand style.

MUSIC CITY HOLIDAY - XM 105

Country's biggest superstars sing contemporary and traditional holiday hits. Selections from Faith Hill, Alabama, George Strait, and Reba McEntire will keep your Christmas country.

A CLASSICAL CHRISTMAS - XM 106

Traditional carols sung by the greatest classical musicians of all-time like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Luciano Pavarotti, and Leontyne Price grace the XM airwaves through Christmas day.

SPECIAL X-MAS - XM 107

This is the soundtrack to your dysfunctional family holiday. Comedy routines, parodies, seasonal insanity, and just plain bad music help turn your "Bah-Humbug" into a "Ho, Ho, Ho."

You just answered your own queston Chad. Last time I checked, Christmas was a tradition.

Then again, its people like you who gets me what I want in traditional seasonal music. Thanks..

I'm completely flabbergasted that DAB and SISO disagree with me! Complete shock and awe I tell ya! Ever notice that when certain people around here get their way and I just so happen to disagree or have a slightly different view of that opinion that they automatically call me a whiner and a bitcher?

Hey, weren't you two both complaining last year that SIRIUS wasn't playing enough "traditional" Christmas music? I guarantee if the tables were turned and that was the situation again, you two (along with a few others) would be up on your soapbox bitching right along with me.

Look, I enjoy listening to all types of Christmas tunes including traditional (religious and non-religious) and the not-so-traditional, but most of these more traditional ones can be heard anywhere at anytime...regardless of whether you want to hear them or not. I guess it's my mistake for assuming that a satellite radio company would offer us something more than FM-radio and walking into your local Wal-Mart does. Is it really so bad to want them to mix it up a little and take a cue from XM (e.g. SPECIAL X-MAS - XM 107) by adding a little diversity to the line-up? And is so bad asking them to not take-over a channel that plays music that can only be heard exclusively on that channel? And furthermore, is it too much to ask for them to play the more religious-based songs on a religious channel?

For the person complaining about not hearing novelty Christmas music on Sirius, XM radio brings back Special Xmas. If you got XM, this is the channel for you that I hope will fill the bill for you.

Discription:

This is the soundtrack to your dysfunctional Family Holiday. Comedy routines, parodies, seasonal insanity and just plain bad music to help your "Bah-Humbug" in to a "HO, Ho, HO." Hear it on XM 107 beginning Thanksgiving Day till Decemboer 26th I believe.

This will be my first Christmas with XM and I'm looking forward to hearing some of this kind of stuff as well as the other holiday music on XM. I like the one XM has on now on 103 called HOLLY. I'll also check out the holiday musical offerings on Sirius as well to compare offerings. Also glad to hear sirus is doing something for the Christmas season again and improoving on it, of what I have read on here on the home page.

Huh? I don't remember either of us complaining about that, we may have said that Sirius needed more channels but that's it. But, you're all knowing, so why should I doubt you?

Sirius CAN'T copy XM all of the time, they have to be their own company. If memory serves me correctly, Sirius doesn't play that many religious songs on their traditional Christmas channel (Starlite).

Well, that's why there was a QUESTION MARK (----> ) at the end of the QUESTION I was ASKING you.

And there's that jab directed at me we all saw coming a mile away. What is with you lately? You seem to be taking a jab at everything I'm posting these days.

I don't see why not with the numerous times XM has copied off of SIRIUS. And I don't exactly view offering a more diverse selection as copying off of them.

Again, let 'em play all the religious-themed Christmas music they want because I have no problem with them offering any of it. It's just the lack of the overall selection of the various types that they don't offer (and the placement of certain channels) that I have a problem with.

The fact is Chad that you are now known as a whiner and a bitcher. I didn't do this, SISO didn't do this nor any other forum member, you did this yourself. Perhaps if you were a bit more selective in chosing your battles instead of jumping on everything, you might not come off that way.

There was a thread as I recall last year about the fact that early on the first week or two of Sirius playing Christmas music that traditional music appeared to be missing. They eventually got with the program. I recall commenting in that thread, but there is a big difference in commenting and doing what you do which is to just go on and on and on about this stuff, just like you have with censorship and many other topics.

So if you wonder why people are now saying that, perhaps you need to take a long hard look at your posting because in some of the topics you are like a dog with a bone, you just won't let it go. I have to admit when I see you post, I just always take it with a grain of salt because I've just learned how you are and you have every right to post your opinion, just as I and others have a right to disagree.

Most of that stuff will be splashed on FM. Tune in.

I loved the Christmas channel last year. Looking forward to the mixup channel.

SISO and Chad,

(to quote Kramer from Seinfeld) "Can't you two see you're in love with each other?"

Back on topic...

I say call the season what it is...Christmas. Chanukkah is a minor Jewish holiday and Kwanzaa was created in 1966 by a guy from Maryland. Christmas is the holiday, and anything else is basically just white protestant anglo guilt.

Oh yeah, Festivus is okay too. A Festivus for the rest of us.

Default Real Christmas

Will they at least run Christmas songs through until Jan 6? I'm a little annoyed at self-proclaimed religious leaders suddenly stopping their Christmas barrage on Dec 26. Christmas season starts Dec. 25 and runs through Epiphany on Jan 6. Ever wonder where the "12 days of Christmas" came from? Now you know.

Me? I start playing the Christmas tunes on Back Friday and run through Jan 6. I love this time of year.

Other than the fact that Dec. 25 to Jan. 6 is 13 days, that makes perfect sense.
