Smile A little bit better.

Every year, Sirius makes a good thing better. Last year was just fine with traditional Christmas songs, Holiday on Starlite, Country Christmas on Roadhouse and now this year, Classical Christmas on Pops. I'll be looking forwad to it!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

For the record, "traditional" Christmas music is classical in nature.

Just because the holiday is a christian holiday doesn't mean you can just slap that music onto one of the christian channels without regards to the genre. If that were the case, then all 3 Christian music channels would be the christmas stations. Instead, it's filed by category; Contemporary, Western/Country, and Classical, which makes it easier for us subscribers to navigate.

I'm ready for them to fire up the Christmas music today. The more channels, the better. We'd better set a channel aside for Grandma Got Run Over and Jeff Foxworthy's Redneck 12 days of Christmas.

Or least take over one of the unnecessary channels (aka "payola" channels) such as Rolling Stones Radio or Blue Collar Comedy instead!

And how come they never play more non traditional adult-oriented and parody/novelty holiday songs?

"Merry Fucking Christmas" - Mr. Garrison (South Park)

"The 12-Days of Guido Christmas" - Ha Ya Doin Boys

"The Hanukkah Song" - Adam Sandler

"The Twelve Days of Christmas" - Bob and Doug McKenzie

"Santa Claus And His Old Lady" - Cheech & Chong

"Christmas in Hollis" - Run DMC (BackSpin maybe?)

"Yellow Snow! Yellow Snow! Yellow Snow!" - Aaron Dodson

"The Twelve Pains of Christmas" - Weird Al Yankovic

"Christmas Wrapping" - The Waitresses

"Christmas with the Devil" - Spinal Tap

"Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight)" - The Ramones

-or- the many punk rock Christmas tunes out there:

http://www.mistletunes.com/punk.html

And so on and so forth.....

SIRIUS blew a great opportunity yet again.

Those are some really good ones you mentioned (I do find it hard to believe they aren't at least playing "Christmas In Hollis" anywhere). There are quite a few non-tradational Christmas songs that are a lot of fun and it would be nice if maybe they devoted a week to those on a channel like Raw Dawg or somewhere.

"Christmas is Hollis" is classic. Don't see why most of that stuff can't fit in on the mix Christmas channel or on some holiday shows.

It's supposed to start on all 3 Holiday channels by 3a.m. Eastern. (In about 2 1/2 hours). Obviously, as already mentioned, Roadhouse is up.

This is my first Xmas with satellite radio (sirus) and personally, I am looking forward to hearing Sirius' xmas music selection. I love ALL types of xmas/holiday music (traditional, instrumental, country, modern, funny, etc). Should be fun.

However, I have to admit, the XM xmas line-up looks pretty good.

the XM christmas line-up destroys sirius. 6 channels!!! i like the fact that i can listen to a certain genre of christmas music rather than a mixed bag. i'd much rather listen to a channel that specializes in the bing crosby/perry como music than starlite which will play that but i have to suffer through crap like WHAM and Mariah Carey. and please... stop referring it to "holiday" channel. it's christmas music, not holiday music.

CCF, they play "It's time for Hanukkah" and "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow." So technically it's not just christmas.
